Las Vegas, budget dining recommendations?

Diagonally across from the Bellagio: Margaritaville in the Flamingo, and Toby Keith's I Love that Bar and Grill in Harrah's. Also, Grand Lux Cafe in the Venetian.

Best reasonably-priced buffet is at Main Street Station downtown.

Make sure you use the Deuce bus. It is $7 per person for an all day pass. It will take you from the Strip to downtown to the outlet mall. Great deal! Gets you all over for cheaper than a taxi ride.

I'll second the Burger Bar recommendation. It's not cheap, but I think it's a good value for on strip. The quality is excellent and the beer selection is huge. Google the website for prices. My favorite is angus beef on ciabatta with cheddar and carmelized onions, and sweet potato fries.

Another vote for Margaritaville. It's often our first stop to get in the vacation mood.

Best breakfast deal IMO is at Paris. We love the Village Buffet for breakast. If you go late in the morning have breakfast the first round and lunch the second. I always recommend this buffet and I normally HATE buffets. Bellagio buffets get good reviews too.

This is right near the Riviera...

The food is good... and the portions are absolutely GIGANTIC. ( and I love to eat )... and it has a fun atmosphere. The downside is that there can be lines of up to an hour at peak times.

Now they also have a late night lounge which is VERY COOL - part of the same building. You have drinks and eat, while you sit around a fire pit. Open 24 hours.

Also, the Grand Lux Cafe at the Venetian ( I think ) was excellent casual dining as well. We stayed at the Pallazzo in February, and ate at the Grand Lux 3x in 5 days. The menu is huge, portions large, and all priced very well.

By far.... a taxi to the outlets is well over $10 each way... maybe even close to $20 each way.

Absolutely. And the restaurant is really nice for a buffet.

Wow, lots of great suggestions. I have stayed at Harrah's and have gone to Toby Keith's Bar, the food was good. We will be having a party/reception on our arrival day at the Irish Pub for our group. I hope they have a variety of their food to try.
I will definitely look for the burger bar, and I was told they have a new burger place at Mirage.
I am happy that this thread will help others, and I will make sure to come back to post my recommendations after we return.

If you'll have a car - Hash House a Go Go on West Sahara. HUGE portions. HUGE. Humungous. Ginormous. Big. Really big. And an excellent deal.

The Sahara.......$1 Blackjack, shots, hot dogs, and beer or Casino Royale (mid strip) $1 Michelobs. Sorry, Beer is my food while in Vegas. Did I mention $2 Heinekens and Coronas at the Fremont downtown. At least I threw in a hot dog special.

Hi,
Just back today, what a fun, warm sunny weekend. Just wanted to let everyone know where we ended up eating while we were in Las Vegas. (Remember I was there with a group for my husband's job, so some meals were included).

Toby Keith, I Love this Bar/Harrah's
Nine Fine Irishmen/ NYNY-Company sponsored cocktail party, free drinks/appetizers
Earl of Sandwich/Planet Hollywood
Emerils/MGM-(tasting menu, very good and very filling)
Catered buffet The Bar at Times Square/NYNY (not sure if it is the same at their restaurants, but it was good food)
Diablos Cantina/Monte Carlo
Definitely not budget, but with the heat we didn't eat as much food.:rotfl:

thank you to everyone who shared the information, have fun on your upcoming trips. And definitely check out the Vegas information on the board, follow the link from lovetoscrap.

We just got back last night. My husband and I went for a long weekend. Yes, the weather was a bit warm.:)

I have to mention breakfast, especially since I don't normally eat in the mornings. We stayed at the MGM Grand and there is a food court (around the corner from Emerils) that has a Nathan's Hot Dog counter. I know it doesn't sound like a place that might have a decent breakfast, but it was very good! They serve an "All-American Breakfast" for $8.95, and it is worth every penny. I had the scrambled eggs with hash browns, bacon and biscuit. My husband had the same, but also had the pancakes and the waffles on other mornings. The food was very tasty- stayed hot and the portions were plentiful.

We also had a nice lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe (the new location on the strip) and one evening we ate at Cravings, the buffet at the Mirage, which was also quite good.

OP- did you do any gambling? We arrived kind of late Thursday night, and debated whether or not to hit the casino or wait until the next day. Well, we decided to go downstairs. I was playing the quarter slots for less than fifteen minutes when I hit for $750.00!:woohoo: I was SO excited!!

We had a great weekend!:thumbsup2

We're booked at the MGM Grand too! Did you enjoy the hotel?

Thanks for the mini food review. Glad you had a fabulous time! :thumbsup2

This was the second time we've stayed at MGM and both times were pleasant with no problems. We've stayed at New York New York before, but didn't care for it as much. We've also stayed at Treasure Island and the Hard Rock Hotel. Treasure Island was nice (we had a beautiful view of the strip at night) but we prefer being down at the other end of the strip. I would definitely stay at the HRH again. It's a bit off the strip, but I loved the rooms and the smaller casino atmosphere.

Be sure to stop by and see the lion habitat at MGM. One of the lions was wide awake on one of our many walks past their enclosure, and he was very entertaining to watch. He was having a grand time playing with a big, plastic ball.:)

We like going over to Mandalay Bay, too. It's a short walk and short tram ride (pick it up at Excalibur) from MGM. The pool area at Mandalay Bay is something to see!

I would have loved to win 750.00 playing quarter slots. Yes, I did gamble, mostly quarter video poker. I came out a little ahead, but I don't gamble with much money. A woman sitting next to me won 1,000 on video poker, I must have picked the wrong machine:rotfl:

I agree that I did not love NYNY, but it was nice to try it. The lions at MGM are fun to watch, there was one laying on the glass tunnel, can't believe how huge those animals are!

It will be in the 40's here tomorrow, I miss Vegas............
