Ok, so the kids are on the perler bead craze, and for our upcoming cruise, they have requested Mickey in his Santa hat for our stateroom door - it's rather large, I'd say 10" x 6". I'm currently also making a large Stitch, and smaller stormtroopers, etc. We're using the glue-gun to put nice Lee Valley magnets on them so they WILL stick, lol.

I've seen lots of door magnets, do people actually steal them? It's not like I printed out a photo and added magnets...these took time and the kids would be crushed if they up and walked away...

Then I wouldn't take the chance.

If you're in a connecting room, the connecting door will be magnetized & you could hang the precious magnets there, rather than outside of your room. Theft is uncommon, but can happen anywhere. Never leave anything treasured or irreplaceable unattended in public spaces.

You could make them, then take a picture of them to hang on the door, but keep the originals in the room on the inside of the door. That way, they are still stateroom decorations, but not in danger of being stolen.

We have had magnets stolen before. I wouldn't chance putting anything you really care about on the outside of your door.

It's true things get stolen on occasion. If you want zero chance if that then put on inside of door. There has been another poster that prevents theft of magnets by using some decorative fishnet over the door and the associated decorations/magnets. Maybe search this forum as they had posted details of hanging the netting. So that is something to consider if you envision having your artwork on the outside of your door.

Have an enjoyable cruise.
