Hope I've spelt that right. DS 5 has just seen a pic of the Lapu Lapu on the desserts thread and says he can't wait to try one! He's even phoned his Grandma to tell her about the drinks they do at Disney!! I'm assuming this is extremely alcoholic, so do they do a non-alc version?

Thanks....... :sunny:

It is knock you on your behind unconcious alchoholic. They make virgins of many drinks but don't know if they have a virgin of this. I do know its WAY pricey (I seem to remember of over $15 - Polys correct me if I was too drunk to remember correctly). It is in a whole pineapple and you are paying for that as well.

You see, this is what happens when kids get on the internet or some sick person puts a picture of a lapu lapu on the DESSERT thread! :rotfl:

What's sick about it? Sounds like a great dessert to me.

I ordered one when I was at O'Hanas last year. I have never been a big drinker and the Lapu Lapu was a bit too strong for me. Yes, it is heavy on the alcohol. I don't know if they make a virgin version for kids, but they do have version pina coladas that are excellent.

It is very strong... and very good, but not a dessert or something for kids. I believe it is only pineapple juice and alcohol, so if they were to make a virgin one for the kiddos it would only be pineapple juice.(in a pineapple) They cost $10 the last one I had. And looking forward to one in a little over a month! :teeth:

You can also see if they will put a virgin pina colada (or other daiquiri type drink) in the pineapple for you. You will probably have to pay more than what the drink itself would cost but it may be worth it :)

Hahaha, I'm laughing at the idea of a kid's lapu lapu... maybe I shouldn't.

They're $13 now, I believe, and made with a mixture of fruit juices plus the alcohol.

I'd ask if you can get something non-alcoholic in a pineapple, the worst that can happen is they say no, and Disney usually finds a way.

I never dreamed that a child would see my picture and request one!! I guess I need to think a bit more before I post. :teeth: The drink cost around $10.00 and I bet you could have them put any virgin drink in there, but for the right price im sure. :lmao:

Thanks Autumn Sun! At least I've seen my future, and it's expensive  He would have seen them at the hotel anyway! (Sure sounds like a good drink for me though :crazy2: ) Presumably followed by ....

From AllEars: Lapu Lapu - Tropical fruit juices and Myers dark rum served in a fresh pineapple topped with Bacardi 151 $10.99

So, as long as they take out the rum and the 151, it would probably just be like a fruit drink and that'd be OK, I'd presume. You might get some shocked looks from adults though who may see the pineapple and think your kid is drinking the loaded version!! :rotfl2:

My guess would be no, they wouldn't even put it in the pineapple for them. Here's why:

I'm a waitress and when a kid asks for a virgin drink, they have to go into specific glasses, they can't go into the "adult" type glasses because then you wouldn't be able to tell if the child was drinking a virgin drink or the alcoholic drink. Many times I have parents/kids ask to have the kids drink put into a glass just like mom's or dad's and I have to explain this reasoning to them. Once I explain, they're usually fine...usually.

Maybe they could put it in a papaya for him. However, it looks like you might want to tell him that you'll bring him back for his 21st birthday and buy him one then.

You can most certainly get a Virgin Lapu Lapu. My son saw someone drinking one at Kona and asked for it. I told him it wasn't for kids but our waiter overheard and said they can make him a virgin one. We were on the dining plan so at the end of the meal I asked our waiter for the bill on the Lapu Lapu and he said he included as his drink :confused3 So that was an extra plus!

When we were at 'Ohana Nov'04 we saw drinking some. The grandparents asked what was in them and the waitress said it was just pineapple juice, so they do offer them. Like someone said its Disney they will figure out a way. For anyone getting the adult Lapu Lapu make sure you stir it. My DNiece24 got a mouthful of the 151. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I still laugh just thinking about the look on her face that night.
