Hi am travelling in may and I want to bring my laptop so I can download my digital pics to free up my camera memory.
Can anybody give me advice as to anything i need to get due to plugs etc being unlike our U.k. ones also the voltage etc

Many thanks

You just need an adaptor plug (UK to US) and then you can plug your laptop into one of the electric points in your cabin.

How about, instead of lugging around a laptop for a month (read that on another thread) you pay Shutters to download your pics to a cd? I am not sure of the cost, but it sure sounds worth it to me!

We brought our laptop with us, for a couple of reasons.
1. it has the capability to play dvd's in case we got stuck somewhere during our travels, like an airport etc.
2. DH likes to check his e-mail (no-couldn't do it on our laptop from the ship, but we were also at the Swan for a couple of days also, and were able to access the internet from there.)

3. The major advantage of downloading our pic's every day, we could easily see if there would be an advantage of purchasing the comparable pic from Shutters. A case in point, someone else (a guest) took a picture of DD with Belle, and it was mostly their faces - not the dresses. We didn't think twice about wanting the Shutters pic, with the full length of the dresses.

It wasn't a hassle to bring it. We usually bring it if we are going anywhere overnight.

I love having my laptop with me for just this reason. You will need an UK-US adapter as mentioned above; also take note the outlet at the desk (best place to set up laptop) is in a tight spot. If your adapter is big/boxing it may not fit in area.

why not just buy an extra memory card or two for you camera....much cheaper and alot lighter to carry :)

I like to keep notes each day on the laptop. I can also see which pictures I really want to keep. The last cruise our dinner companions and I exchanged cd's with each others pictures.

Well, we took 800 digital photos about 1.5 meg each on our cruise. So that's a lot of memory sticks....

We brought a laptop. Most laptops have a 110/220 converter already attached to the cord. You will just need the plug adaptor.

Cruisenewbie, thanks for the advice.

I have just had a look at the adaptor for my laptop.
It states on the back:INPUT 100-240V.
Sorry for the ignorance, but is this o.k to use on the ship.

Regards

Our camera now takes pics at 2.85 meg each. Dread to think how many memory stix we would need for our 3 week vaccation in Oct (took about 400 at Christmas in 1 week without a cruise). Memory stix mountain would probably end up bigger than Laptop. :earboy2:
