Laptops- Need some help from the pc experts out there

I currently own an old eMac and it's soooooo slow I can't take it anymore. We really can't justify the cost of another mac so we're looking into getting a pc laptop but I'm clueless in regards to pc's.

It will mainly be used for the internet- facebook games, watching TV shows online etc... I'd like it to have a built in camera also. We're looking to stay as cheap as possible but want something reliable of course. We won't be bringing it outside the house much so weight doesn't really matter.

I just got a Dell Studio 1555 to replace my aging iBook G4. Like you, we weren't prepared to pay the cost of a new Apple laptop, sadly. I got the Dell on sale at Best Buy for something like $550. It has a core 2 duo processor, 4gb ram, 320gb hard drive, 15.6" widescreen, and a built-in webcam. I still don't like Windows, but compared to my ancient iBook G4, this thing is awesome.

A new windows comes out 10/22 - you can either get a great deal on one with windows vista just prior to that, or get the a W7 pc. I understand, from people using the W7 beta, it's waaay better than Vista.

Fine watching shows and movies online uses none of the power of the computer. You can use a 6 year old computer and be just fine doing those things.

A lot of that depends on your internet connection. However, everything is definitely faster on my new computer. If your current computer is an eMac, it's at least as old as, if not older than, my iBook G4. Any new computer is going to feel noticeably faster than your eMac.
