Laptop Help???? What to buy deals?

I would like to get a new laptop. I know that I want at least 3gb and 320mb. I am pretty sure I want windows 7. I never did hear good things about vista. But I don't know what processors are best. I actually don't know if that other stuff I just spouted off is any good lol! I know I want to use it to download pics, and maybe photoshop. I won't be downloading any games on it. What do I need to look for? Do you know of any good deals right now? I usually go Dell but seems like a lot of people don't like them. Thanks.

I like the bigger screen and additional power of the second one. The issue I am trying to narrow down now is battery life. A computer friend of mine let me borrow a laptop and it only has a one hour battery life...I'd like more.

don't you have to have a Costco membership? That would cost me more money because I don't have one.
