I never use a lanyard (except a waterproof one at VB to hold my cards). I have a small purse with easily accessible slots for cards or put my AP and (room key if I have EP) in my shorts pocket.
I put my ticket/room key/EP all just straight into my pocket. I had even brought a lanyard once but still didn't bother with it because the pocket was easier.
To be fair, I never wear anything around my neck, and don't see the benefit of doing so on vacation when it is so easy to keep those 2-3 cards in your back pocket.
And there are several other rides where we need to store our stuff because you can’t bring purses, backpacks, water bottles, wands, etc. Of course you don’t NEED a lanyard for that, but it’s handy.
Full disclosure: I say this as a woman, and our clothing is infamous for having inadequate pockets and that’s when there are even any pockets at all. If I wore men’s clothing, I might have a different opinion.
Yeah... I'm a woman also but wear jeans/jean shorts to the parks. I specifically check that pockets are big enough to hold a phone before buying any pants.
Why do phones keep growing but pockets keep shrinking?

You have my deepest admiration if you can wear denim to the parks. This northern gal would probably have heatstroke if I tried. It looks like it’s going to be in the 90s this weekend when we come down, and no way will jeans (even jean shorts) even be in my luggage.
It’s not that pockets are inherently male or female, but that designers have decided men need pockets and women don’t. I have a hard time finding Women’s clothing with adequate pockets. Most of my shorts are either khaki type with small pockets or athletic/running types with no pockets at all. Men don’t have to go looking for pockets; the pockets seem to come standard in whatever they buy.
