Hi there I'll be at WDW from 10/31 to 11/04 and I was wondering what was on the CM's lanyards.

Larry

Larry... Have a great trip. I checked with a few sources and found that it's pins. Yup that is what is on CM lanyards.:smooth: Just kidding. He said that right now there seems to be an influx of 101 pins and the new DS pins. As well as the old stand by.... Flex Pins!!!

Dear Nat,

You said they have Flex Pins - how exciting.

I am calling today to cancel my cruise so I can go to Disney World and get Flex Pins.

Hurry Larry, before I get there - they will all be gone if I see them.

what's a flex pin?

sorry, i'm very new here. have owned my first pins for about 30 hours!

Hi, Nigel, and welcome to the DIS collectors board

Flex pins are gift pins guests at WDW resorts receive as part of the flex packages. Usually they are very common on CM lanyards.

how would i know if a pin is a flex pin - are they described that way at pinpics?

also, if you wouldn't mind another question... what are the 101 pins mentioned? are you referring to dalmations? it seems like there are 101 pins in the series - did they really make a series that large of all dalmations?! (i really feel like i sound like a doofus)

oh please, just one more... are the binders and the bags a big deal? i thought they were always available, are they? i was going to wait until i actually had enough pins to halfway fill it, but maybe i should buy one now. my TDS has a lot.

thanks so much for you guidance!

Yes, they should be described that way on pinpics. If you're trading with a CM at WDW, they will know which ones are the flex pins.

The 101 pins are the Countdown to the Millennium pins that came out about this time in 1999 in the Disney Stores. There were 101 pins in that set, and currently have been found at the Character Warehouse in the Belz Outlets in Florida.

Believe me, you'll eventually want a pin bag or a binder. It'll make it much easier to carry your traders.

some examples of flex pins that i saw on my trip last month was a pin with donald duck flying in a red plane and minnie and mickey driving a car. also common pins are the minnie and mickey trading pins ( there is a starter lanyard sold that contains two of each pin so everyone that buys this will automatically trade one of each or all of them)

also some common terms that i have seen on these boards are
101 pins or milenium pins - these were the pins sold in the DS(disney store) last year. there are 101 pins in the whole set ( not 101 dalmation pins, but that would be too funny trying to tell them apart, lol)
the 100 YOD (year of dreams) pins that are being released now in the DS, 7 or 8 per week
WDW= walt disney world
NBC= nightmare before christmas
JDS=japan disney store
DLP= Disneyland Paris
CM= castmember pin
LE= Limited edition pin
rack pin= a pin sold in the parks that is open stock, no limit known as to # produced
DCA= disneyland california

that you get you started, good luck!!!:)
