Landry's Select Club- deferring birthday rewards question

For how long can I defer a birthday reward? If our latest birthday is in August (next in February), but our trip is in January, can I defer the August reward until January? We have no Landry's anywhere near us so Disney is the only time we can use it.

Also, can the birthday reward and the welcome credit be used in the gift shop or only for food?

No. Birthday rewards expire the 15th of the month following the birthday.

No you can't. The reward is only availible from the first day of your birthday month until the 15th of the following month!

Here is the official term of Landry:
"Your $25 Birthday Reward will be automatically added onto your Landry's Select Club account on the first day of your birthday month. Birthday Rewards expire on the 15th of the month following your birthday month. Birthday Rewards can be deferred but will expire on the 15th if unused."

The reward can be used for food or merchandise in the gift shop.

What do you mean no you can't? It ALSO says in their official terms:
What does it mean to Defer Reward?
By clicking on Defer Reward, you are choosing to not use your Reward your next visit at one of Landry's locations. The Reward stays deferred until you enable it on your account. Deferring your Reward does not extend the expiration. Welcome Rewards cannot be deferred and will automatically be applied on your first restaurant visit following registration.

Also:
Once a member elects to defer a reward, all subsequent rewards will be deferred until such time that the member goes back online and elects to enable the reward. In order to enable the reward, the member must log into their online account and click the Enable Reward button. This will result in all rewards being enabled (undeferred).

So you can defer it, I'm just wondering how long you can defer for? If I defer, can I enable it once again in January (and then I know it would expire on the 15th of February). It SOUNDS like it would work, but I'd hope to find someone who's done it!

That's what I mean, to defer using it. I understand it will still expire the 15th of the following month, but I wasn't sure if there was a timeframe that it could be deferred within (say, 3 months or something like that). We're only going once anyway, in January.

The timeframe for deferral is within when it will expire.

My bday is October. No matter what, my bday reward expires November 15. Deferring use of the reward still requires that I use the reward by 11/15. It doesn't change the expiration.

So if I'm going twice between oct and nov 15 but don't want to use the reward in the first visit I defer it. But I still have to use it by the 15th.

It's really a pointless thing imo.

Wow guys, no need to resort to snark. I honestly thought that my question was misunderstood here and generally feel I get a better overall response on FB (more activity), and whoever answered there just happened to explain it in the way that finally "clicked" for me. Obviously *I* was the one who misunderstood the program in the end, and I'm not above admitting it, but I don't think there's a need to respond like that.

I have heard of plenty of people doing that, but I see a number of people are being checked, and I wouldn't want to cheat the system only to have the one useful perk be eliminated if they do ask to verify, you know?

I did not use my correct birthday month and never had a problem. Why would Landry care? You still only get one birthday reward and it got you into their restaurant where you inevitability spent more than just the $25 reward.

My birthday month happens to fall when I am most likely to be at WDW.

However, I signed up because there are Landry's restaurants (Morton's and The Oceannaire) where I could use my birthday reward that are close to home. I don't need to go to WDW every year to use it.

I am not sure why you quoted me and then added the above. I was in no way commenting on you, but more in my frustration that I can't use my reward in sept since it will expire in August

I have deferred a couple of times so that the reward wasn't used on a business (expense account) meal and I could save it for a personal meal.
