If I purchase a Landry’s card I get reimbursed for cost with the welcome bonus and since I’m traveling in my birthday month we essentially will be getting $25 we can apply to a meal which saves us one credit on the dining plan. Is that correct? I have reservations at Rainforest and TRex but I would love to be able to not use DDP for one of those and have another credit for somewhere else. Thanks!

We did this in November when we went, and November is also my birthday month. it's a GREAT deal, because it saved us $50 (welcome bonus and birthday credit). Also, we used it at Yak & Yeti in AK since it is owned by Landry's, and it was AMAZING!!!

Just to warn you, the manager on duty at Rainforest DS turned down my request to use both the welcome and birthday rewards at the same meal.

I was, however, allowed to purchase merchandise at the Rainforest store with the birthday reward.

Even if you are told you can use both at one place, use 1 DP credit and one OOP (using a reward) at each restaurant since you will be dining at both. that way you can use the DP credit for the most expensive each time :)

But with the cost of the card the savings is $25 correct? It’s worth it to me to save $25 but want to make sure I understand the benefits. Thanks!

You cannot use the birthday reward and the welcome bonus on the same visit.

Well like the above poster said she could use the Birthday Reward in the shop. I bet even if they stopped that loop hole, you could use the Welcome Bonus on a meal there say on Saturday, and then use the Birthday Reward on Sunday in the shop? I might just look into to it, because my birthday is in June and we will be down there next month.

Yes...you are correct in that it offsets. So actually only saving $25.

That may be the policy, but I wasn't aware of it when I used it. My experience was that they let us do it.

I could only see that being a benefit if you planned on something from the gift shop from the get go. Otherwise, it's sort of a waste IMO. You can usually go between multiple restaurants though. We're Houston area (Landry's restaurant central) and we've seen them enforce the bday and welcome reward, but there are ways to work it into one day and not waste it...depending on your plans. Ex. If I went to the Kemah Boardwalk here, I could use my welcome bonus during a dinner at Landry's and then pop over to Bubba Gump or Cadillac for cocktails afterwards and use my bday bonus. Edit- on the flipside, it's really nice when you've earned a $25 reward and have your bday reward, because they will let you use those together. Nothing like getting $50 off of your meal.

I was able to use both the welcome bonus and the birthday credit at Y&Y in June 2016. I take it this has changed since then? If so, that's a bummer. We will be at WDW in December and I was thinking of getting my DH a card since his birthday is in December. If we can't use them both, then I'll pass. There would be no savings. Spend $25 to just be able to use $25. We aren't planning on going to any other Landry's restaurants while there, and there are no Landry's restaurants within an hour of our home.

I should clarify- we did already intend to shop in the Rainforest store after our meal. However, I didn't know I could use the birthday reward that way until I got to the cashier- the computer behind her had a Landry's screensaver on it. It occurred to me just in time.

As far as I remember, the birthday reward can be used up to 6 weeks after the owner's birthday, as well. We are lucky that we have 2 young children and a Rainforest Cafe, as well as quite a few other Landry's restaurants near us, so the $25 free every year comes in handy for us. As for using it at T-Rex, it may be worth paying the $25 to get the $25 because when you show that you have the card you get seated quicker, especially if you have reservations.

I have about $40 worth of McCormick and Schmick's gift cards left from our last visit to the Rainforest Cafe, we could use those and the welcome reward toward the purchase of our meal, right?

How long is the Welcome Reward valid for? If I went ahead and signed up, the Welcome Reward wouldn't expire in two weeks would it?

Can you use the $25 reward (either one) and still charge it to your resort (POP) with your magic band?

Do you need to show ID when redeeming the birthday reward? - I don’t take me ID with me to the parks.

You'll be fine. You do need to go ahead and sign up, because it takes a couple of days for the Welcome Reward to post to your account. There is a chance that you will not receive your card before your trip because of the short amount of time, but bring your id and they will ask you for your phone number you used to do online sign up.

Yes

We've been asked for ID before, and we've not been asked for ID before.

It's just a good idea to always carry ID with you. You never know what might happen.

So what happens if you don't use all $25 in your first meal? Do you lose the balance of it?

So what happens if you don't use all $25 in your first meal? Do you lose the balance of it?

Yes, you lose the balance. It states plainly on their website that "Rewards are deducted in $25 increments. Since there is no carry-over balance, any unused portion of the reward amount will be forfeited. Birthday Rewards cannot be used on the same visit when a Welcome Reward is redeemed."

Is it worth getting the card for the priority seating at T-Rex in Disney Springs? My friend wants to go to T-Rex (she is a dino freak and there is a drink she wants to get there) but the one day we have time to do it would be a night we can't really plan on a specific time. So I was thinking of getting the card for the priority seating. We would also get apps to share so would also use the welcome gift.
