Hope I am not boring anyone.......DAY 2 ( Nassau ) Awoke before sunrise and was treated to glassy calm seas. Sat on the verandah and enjoyed the beautiful sunrise! The family was still asleep so I took a walk around the ship. The ship is beautiful, with all of the wood trim and decks 10 & 11 are nice when you have them all to yourself. Awoke the family at 7 and ordered room service ( limited menu but fine for light eaters ). We ate breakfast and watched our ship pull into Nassau. DW and DS had a shore excursion ( dolphin encounter ) and I stayed on the ship. Dw said that getting off the ship and getting to the excursion was poorly planed, but the experience was great and Blue Lagoon was awesome. I got off the boat and tried to talk to some of the passengers from the RCCL ship docked next to us. Everyone on that ship was amazed at how much bigger there ship was than ours, and the general feeling I got was that they loved their ship. I ate lunch and waited for the family to return. In the late afternoon( after the other two ships in port had left ) we went into Nassau to do some shopping. Nassau in my opinion is a dump. How can a country so dependant on the tourist dollar be so poorly presented? Had to wonder why DCL opted to stay here all day, as the other cruise lines left hours before. Got back and dressed for the show & dinner ( Tritons ). Enjoyed the Juggling/comedy show but the menu at Tritons was very similar to the one we had the night before (Parrot Cay) After late dinner we went on deck to enjoy the pool, and saw the very first fireworks(TEST) on the ship! The weather was beautiful....and the ocean was just lovely!!!!!..On To Day 3

I agree. Nassau is a dump! I sailed on the Mariner of the Seas and this was one of our ports. Next time I sail I won't get off the boat unless I have an excursion. I also stayed at Atlantis, beautiful resort. When I stayed there I never left the resort. At the time I regreted it because I thought I might be missing something. So when our ship had Nassau as a port stop I made sure I got off to explore. What a mistake!

How was the ship, cruise, service, food, land excursions??????? am considering a 2006 7 day western on this ship!

We did the Eastern 2003 Xmas cruise. The ship is big and very nice. This is a good ship for teens. I like the fact that you can play mini golf, ice skate, rock climb, and doesn't cost any extra. I had no problem with the service, thought it was good. The food wasn't great, it was good, i have had better. The pool area was always crowded, but like any other ship, you need to get there early to get a good sit. There were a lot of kids, but mostly pre-teen and up. I only did one land excursion and that was at St. Marrten because it was Xmas day and many things were closed. That was my favorite day, we did a beach excursion and the water was beautiful and the beach was nice and private. There are plenty of places to eat if you don't want to eat in the diningroom. My favorite is Johnny Rockets, they serve burgers, shakes, fries, etc. You have to pay for the shakes. The other thing I enjoyed was the champagne bar and my husaband enjoyed the cigar bar. My kids on the other hand spend way to much money in the arcade. We enjoyed this cruise very much and would sail with RCCL again. Oh i forgot, we had a verandah stateroom which was find during the day when the bed wasn't pulled out, but at night it was a bit crowded. Which the stateroom was a little larger. Thank god for the verandah, that is where i went when it felt to crowded.

My son will be 10 next year, did you notice any children in that age group on board? BTW Thanks for the info!

Yes, there were plenty of boys and girls on board that age. The hang out seem to be the arcade in the evening. I would check on my daughter once in awhile and I took notice to it. The kids/teenagers seem to like Johnny Rockets, mini golf, and ice skating, oh and there is roller blading also. The rock climbing was mixed between kids and adults.
