We did the Disney Cruise From the 25th to the 29th (trip report on DCL boards) We had beautiful weather even though it called for rain so the Captain did great work of keeping it sunny for us and Castaway Cay was awesome! I wish they would build a resort on Castaway Cay so we could stay there for a week. It is so wonderful!
We stayed at BWV in a 2br and a studio for 2 night then moved to a studio when the family left on the 1st leaving just DH me and DS. We weren't thrilled about BWV. Great for people who love inside hallways and don't have small children especially if they use a stroller. But the rest of my accomodations report is on the DVC boards.
It was amazing to walk to Epcot and MGM. We spent alot of time at Epcot because we were pleasently surprised that the Food and Wine Festival was ongoing. I booked the vacation around MILs 60th birthday so we were thrilled to discover we were there for the F&W fest!
Dh and I sampled from all over the world and the food was amazing. Even though we love wine the weather was too hot IMO to drink so we stuck to mainly sampling just food. We ate at Canada (cheddar cheese soup phenominal) Chile (Seafood stew) Scandanavia (meatballs to die for!) South Africa (Lamb and pumpkin stew YUMMY) Japan (Spicy Tuna sushi roll) Ireland (The best potato soup of my LIFE) New Zealand (Lamb slider-sandwhich) Greece (mousaka) France (Quiche Lorraine so good had it twice! and chocolate Creme brulee!!!) Singapore (pork Spring Roll) Germany (Weinkraut and Sausage) Australia (Beef skewer).
Big list I know but that was spread out over 4 days. It was fantastic I would highly recommend going during this time of the year. It is hot down there though so remember to dress accordingly. If it were cooler we would have sampled the wine more . Although I did do a tasting at Australia which was alot of fun. Australian wine is fantastic. I already drink it at home so when we walked past I had to do the sampling to see the new stuff. Amazing.
DS's favorite ride is test track so we would go to Epcot ride that and Soaring which is TOTALLY BEAUTIFUL and then do some sampling while he ate chicken nuggets LOL. The funniest thing is that he was completely into the sampling too. He stole DH's meatball from Scandanavia and tried the cheddar and potato soups. Also loved the spring roll from Singapore. It was so much fun!!!!
I cannot say enough about Soaring. My only suggestion is to fast pass it because the wait standby was never under 60 minutes and we saw it as long as 90! Completely worth it if you wait but if you can fast pass definitely do. Don't miss this ride it is outrageously good! DS went on first with MIL and FIl and then we wnet on the next day with him and he was telling us to hold on and how to sit He loved it and he is 5. It has to be my favorite ride hands down. You come off completely smiling and keep it on for a good 30 minutes till you realize you are smiling like a fool LOL.
I also have to give kudos to a Cast Member running Test track on Tuesday Oct 4th. He was so efficient. I wish we got his name. He was lining people up for the cars like he had this computer program in his head. When it was our turn I told him what a great job he was doing and he said after 15 years he has it to a science and it only gets scary when he wakes up in the middle of the night asking "how many?" He was awesome!
Shifting gears we went to Magic Kingdom twice during our vacation. As always there is something new at WDW heading into tomorrowland across from The Stich ride is a little area indoors with backdrops set up. Inside you will find Buzz, The Incredibles and Stitch all available for pictures. My son was so excited. You wait on line then you get to pose with all three individually! It is great because it is inside in airconditioning and it is 3 characters at once. PLUS it is geared towards boys. Finally something they can look forward to, characters just for them! Maybe one day they will set up a character breakfast similar to the princess one so the boys can dress up with their favorite Disney characters!
We also rode the Buzz ride and the Indy cars. We only stopped for a short while we have long left the days of doing parks commando style. It tends to wear us out and leave us with a cranky kid. So now we just hit the old favorites and move on. Our second time at MK we did Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Carribean and Big Thunder Mountain Rail road.
We visited Anilmal Kingdom and went on Dinosaur (DS is now terrinfied of it so no more of that) Kilamanjaro Safari and walked around the grounds. We also ate at Pizzafari and were disappointed to find they discontinued the meal vouchers. I guess I didn't keep up on my disboards LOL. I bought DS a toy maid in Africa which he loves. It is awesome how Disney gets authentic merchandise for their parks!
Then we spent a day at Typhoon Lagoon. We did the family raft ride, the blue tubed water slide and spent some time in the lazy river! We spent most of the day in the wave pool DS loved it. He did get scratched up by the bottom which cut our day short. SO take note if you have little ones the bottom of the pool is rough to keept footing but if a wave knocks you down it will scrape you up pretty badly. Water shoes could help for the feet but he also got a scrape on his ankle and his hand
BUT he would do it all again in a heart beat!
So that is basically it. I told my days out of sequence lol. We got off the ship went to Magic Kingdom and Epcot then to Anilmal Kingdom, stayed a day at the pool the day the rest of the family were leaving then we did MGM, Epcot Magic Kingdom than EPcot for the rest of the days we had left. It was an awesome trip.
Oh yeah don't miss the new Lights camera action stunt show at MGM it is AMAZING. The stunts make you lose your breath!
I am having problems posting this. Anyone have issues of saying it is a dupilcate without seeing it on the boards?
