My husband has thrown out the idea of selling our small farm within a few years and moving because of the fact that it is just getting to be a little much on him now, with the land and the cows, hay, ect, and with a full time job. (He has always worked full time, just at 40 years old, he is now started to feel his age :teeth: and he realizes that in 10 more years, he just will not have the will in which to do it anymore)

But get this, what he wants to do is to buy a lake access lot and build a home on it so he could have a boat and enjoy the lake time there. But I was looking at the cost for a lake lots and OMG. $100,000 for a acre! And advice on where they are better priced at in Georgia, or Southeast Tennessee? He is firm on the fact that the lot has to have lake access and the ability to build a dock.:rolleyes2:rolleyes2

I have zero knowledge about lot prices in that area, but I have been boating and vacationed at Kentucky Lake/Lake Barkley. That Land Between the Lakes area is beautiful. :) Good luck!

I would prefer a lake in Florida.:teeth: But that ain't gonna happen.

Get ready for sticker shock! I would just about guarantee that you will not be finding any economical lots anywhere on lakes that are enjoyable to live on. Not saying it can't happen, but have friends and relatives that are/have been living on lakes in NC, which would be similar in land prices, and they don't come cheap!

Good luck!

Might be easier to find a house already on a lake

I'd FIND an area you like- visit it....Google real estate agents in area

We have 2 lakes in out state we LOVE and have toyed with getting a camp or put a trailer on the Fishing lake one
