We have a 5th Wheel, and have been to the Wilderness Campground many times, but have never gone fishing there. Is it OK to bring your own fishing equipment and fish in the lakes?

Yes, but catch and release only unless you are on a paid Disney fishing expedition.

This is not totally correct.

Yes , Tim is correct, you can use your own equip for fishing Disney waters and you won't need a Fish Lie. because it's private property .

On all of Disney property, it is "catch and release only" ,
even on the Guided Fishing Excursions.

Where would one be able to fish in Bay Lake (as opposed to the canals)? The beach area is off limits and the non-beach areas are not accessible.

Back behind the 300 loop there is a bit of beach/lake that you can fish. Beware, you have to get out beyond some "grass" to get to open water. Also on the sand trail between For and WL, same thing.

I have some real nifty fish'n spots at the Fort lake, if you see me there, just ask, I'll take you with me.(Course you'll have to be blind-folded first :lmao:)

Bay Lake at the Fort, has some very nice bass, pretty good sized bream (sunfish) and pretty pretty much the usual mix of Florida fish.

Fishing Bay Lake on your own time is a lotta fun, but (if you have a little xtra cash) a Guided Fishing Excursion on Bay Lake is loads of fun, :thumbsup2

Yes, but it takes more than "a little xtra cash!!"

oh it's by no means cheap,,but nothing at Disney is cheap.
However, up to five people at a time are allowed to go onna Guided Fishing Excursion, and if you are able to split the cost with a couple other people (or look at the fact that cost is for 5 people) ,,then it helps to justify the cost.

and it's a lotta fun !

Paddle boats and canoes, to my knowledge, are only on the canals and Meadows pond. I've never rented one, but what the heck, I'd give it a try,,all they can say is no. :confused3

Many years ago when i was a kid, I used to fish with my dad about a 10 minute walk from the settlement dock, go to the dock, turn right, walk a "nature trail" about 10 minutes over the canal, past an older cabin, and you were on a quiet area of bay lake. Last time we were there I looked back that way but it all looked overgrown. Does it still exist?
