Laila - oerfume at Norway

I have enjoyed Laila for years, probably going on for over 10 years now. Anyway, the last bottle I purchased in December is not the same scent! The bottle looks like the same except it has an outline of a flower on the back of the bottle. Has anyone else noticed this change or did I just get a "bad" bottle? I have tried to wear it 3 different times and can't stand it! Had to switch back to my old bottle, which is very quickly running out. Help! What is your opinion?

I read your post and am worried.
I first purchased Laila in February 2012 and I LOVE it, my fiance does too.
It is the same bottle as you described, with the flowers outlines on the back.

My bottle is still half full, but since we don't know when we will be back again, I purchased a backup in February 2013. It is the same bottle type. I am undecided. I just went into the kitchen and did an extensive smell test because my have peaked my curiosity. My fiance doesn't think it changed, so that is his vote. I am not so sure. The newer bottles smells a little bit more "soapy" or seems a bit harsher to me, it doesn't seem as smooth as the first bottle I bought in 2012 if that makes any sense whatsoever. I then did a web search and didn't find any info that it has been changed, as some of my other former favorites scents have such as Tova which has people ranting and protesting.

I am leaning towards the opinion that scent has been changed, but would love other opinions.

I agree. The one in the travel bottle seems to be the original and the bigger bottle smells totally different

After reading so much about how people love Laila, I tried some from the tester when we were there in December. I thought it was just awful - very harsh and just not pretty smelling. I thought maybe I just didn't like it or it didn't go with my body chemistry. I can't compare since I had never tried it before but a formula change is certainly a possibility.

UPDATE: I went through some user comments on their official website. There are not a lot of comments but two people since the beginning of the year were complaining about the change and were asking them to go back to the original. My guess it was a recent change since my 2012 bottle is softer, not as harsh. Hopefully it will be like "New Coke" fiasco and they will bring the original back. I will start using my 2012 bottle more sparingly!

It seems to me like the creator of Laila,Geir Ness is at the Norway pavillion pretty often,at least in a lot of our visits I'll see a sign saying he'll be there that day.Maybe someone who'll be there in the next couple of days can just ask.It might be me as I'll be there on Friday.My mom loves how Laila smells so I don't think she would like a change.

Wow I hadn't even noticed! I mean at one point I wondered if it was stronger but thought it was just me! I too buy every time we are in WDW b/c its my fave perfume!

So I went and looked at my bottle and it doesn't have the flowers on the back but still seems stronger to me.. I went and checked DD and hers has the flowers but scent seems softer? Im confused!!

FYI, Laila can be purchased at Nordstrom as well.
My husband bought me a bottle from there last year when mine ran out.

You can always order it on Laila's website or Norstrom.com..but, if they did reformulate it, then it would be the same on those sites too. I have just about run out of mine, and was going to get a new bottle when we go in a few weeks, but if they changed the formula and it is for the worst, I will be so sad!

Well, thanks for the updates. Yes, I always go by and smell Laila at Nordstrom's and it is always the usual scent and I always check on their gift packages for it too. But, yes, this "new" scent is much stronger, and kinda of a "soapy" smell - anyway, something is not right at all with it! It is NOT the same Laila I have enjoyed for years and years! Please, if anyone will be in Epcot Norway in the near future, please ask if they have had a formula change or what exactly is going on! I smelled and sprayed on the tester (as I always do) when I was purchasing this large bottle, and it was the same scent. However, 2 months later when I open my new bottle, it is not Laila!! Thank you!

Me either. I can't run through that shop fast enough, trying to escape that cloying stink.

That said, have those of you who like it tried emailing the company about the change?

I usually order Laila through FragranceNet.com. I ordered a bottle from them 2 months ago but have been using my older bottle to finish it. The fragrance in the older bottle actually smelled stronger but I figured it was because it was more concentrated near the bottom?

It's funny you should post this. I tried the tester in Norway in January and thought it smelled different. I don't bring my bottle on vacation, so I couldn't compare while there.

I have been purchasing Laila and Geir for over a decade and have not noticed any difference but it is possible that maybe a shipment was delayed and overheated? The ingredients are all natural I think so there is only probably a year shelf life on them.

I do know that the company is very concerned with customer service and would probably replace the bottle for you if you contact them!
