Lady and the Tramp's Disney with Food Allergies TR ~COMPLETE

I need to read through more of this when I have time later, but I just had to comment on the soy milk. My little one (then 1.5) was also drinking that horrid stuff the last time we were at WDW. Oh, what a nightmare! I feel your pain. That stuff STINKS to high heaven. I don't know how she tolerated it! At least it was mostly readily available to us at WDW. I'm so sorry you didn't get your fridge. :( Luckily, my DD (now 2.75) has outgrown her intolerance, so we don't have to deal with that any more.

We do still deal with food allergies, as my older DD is peanut, tree nut, and sesame. Disney does seem to handle it all in stride though. :)

Oh, when you get back, can you tell me more about how you made the invitations and everything? I do that too, but yours are much cuter! :goodvibes Thanks!!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip. I'll try to catch up tonight when the girls are asleep. :wizard:

So we quickly gather our things and walk/run out before we become one of those "banned for life" families.

We head straight for the monorail to go to GF. I walk up to the CM, she tells me Happy Anniversary, and I ask about riding in the front, thinking that Joey would love that! He goes nuts over trains. There was 1 family already waiting, but we could get the next one, just about a 5 minute wait. :cool1: So I tell Joe about it, and i think he's actually impressed!! :thumbsup2 I told him it was because i was wearing my anniversary button. :lmao:

The ride was good, but our driver wasn't very talkative. I did ask him some questions and he answered. The kids got their drivers license when we got to T&TC and Joe thought that was pretty cool too. Then we caught the next monorail to GF and arrived for our dinner!

I had been to the GF before, when i was a travel agent and touring it. I've never eatan there, and certainly don't see a stay there anywhere in my future, but I do absolutley love the themeing and decor there. It's one of my favourite resorts, and if we ever win Powerball, you can be sure I'll be booking my stay there! :rotfl:

So we check in, another Happy Anniversary :thumbsup2 and they mention Joey's Allergy! YEAH! We get our buzzer and wait for dinner.

We only waited about 10 minutes before we were called in. OUr table is right next to the buffet, and right on the end of the aisle, so we had great character stopping space. Our waitress was prompt in greeting us, and mentioned that a chef would be out to speak to us soon. We orderd the light up drinks for the kids, and I casually mentioned to the waitress that I had a special custom cake orderd for our anniversary, if she could check on it. She said she would, and then the Chef showed up. Very prompt!

The chef walks me around teh buffet, pointing out what items have milk in them and what would be safe for Joey to eat. He also mentions that he can make a bowl of Tofutti for him for dessert, but i told him we already had dessert arranged, but thank you anyway. So i return to the table with some fruit and croutons for Joey to eat :rotfl: and Joe went to get some food for Jackie. Now, Joey is Lactose Intollerant and can't have milk or cheese products. Not that big of a concern, because he LOVES fruit, and will most of the time eat potatoes and croutons. I have no idea what it is with croutons, but both of my kids will fight tooth and nail over croutons. So what does Joe bring back for Jackie to eat?? Pizza. And her brother doesn't get any. :sad2: while i'm not planning on denying Jackie cheese because her brother can't eat it, I don't think it's fair to rub it in his face either. Luckily, Joey was absorbed in his light up Hook toy from his drink.

Overall I was very impressed with the food at 1900 Park Fare. There was good variety, the food was hot, and we didn't need to wait for them to refill the dishes. It was good and we'll go back. ( I don't have food pics because all our TS meals were character buffets and what is the point of taking pics of food at an ever changing buffet)

First out was Prince Charming. Jackie was so excited to see him, she grabs the book out of my hand before i can get his page out. :lmao:
DSC02196.jpg

I love how he is holding her hand.
DSC02197.jpg

As he walks away, Jackie whispers to me "I think he likes me!" :rotfl:

Then comes Cinderella, who again, is very impressed with Jackie's book. And she's cute to Joey too.

I really liked Lady Tremaine and the stepsisters. I thought they were great characters and really interacted well with us, and each other. Dh thought Drizella was a bit of a b!tch, but isn't she supposed to be?? Anastasia was impressed with her autograph paged and signed it "The Pretty One".;)

DSC02202.jpg

Joey liked the girls, as long as they weren't standing behind him. :scared1: That kind of freaked him out.

Day 1 continued - .

Finally it was time for Dessert, and I motioned for the waitress to bring our cake. now, DH is not one for being the center of attention, at all. So i was hoping she would just bring the cake, and no singing or anything like that. Thankgood she did just that, and Cinderella and the Prince just happened to be walking by and stopped for a quick Happy Anniversary, but that was it. :thumbsup2 So he didn't get too angry. Now, i ordered a custom cake from Grand Floridian Bakery, a dairy free cake for Joey, chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse, and vanilla buttercream icing. (the mousse wasn't dairy free, but i knew he wouldn't eat anything but the icing. and he didn't). Originally i wanted a huge white chocolate sculpture of Lady and the Tramp, but was told the didn't have a mold for it. so I went with a picture of L&tT painted on white chocolate, with 8 Years of Happily Ever After writen on a chocolate scroll. Yeah, it wasn't quite right. It tasted wonderful, can't believe it was dairy free! But the design wasn't right at all, as I'm a cake decorator at home and know exactly what they did. It's a big no-no too! They basically stuck an edible image NEXT to the cake, not even on top of it. An edible image is nothing more than a picture printed out on a piece of special paper made out of icing. What i wanted was a piece of white choclate HAND PAINTED with L&tT. Oh well. It was good and Joe and the kids were impressed, so i guess that's all that counts.

UP next - our Photoshoot at the Grand Floridian, a semi-magical moment and swimming at the Hippy Dippy Pool!

Soooo cute! I love the pictures and the whole TR!

Thanks!! I hope it is OK, even without all the extra food and scenery pics of other TR's.

Great update. :) I can just see you chasing Joey through the wheelchair storage place. :rotfl2:

Yeah, i'm sure it was a sight to see!! I only wish we had a photographer following us around to catch all our chases.:rotfl:

I'm so horrible, i haven't tasted it. :guilty: I'm so not an adventourous eater at all, so the idea of tasting something that other people think tastes bad isn't going to happen, but i can feed it to my son no problem. :rotfl: It's rather annoying now, but it the begining we were trying to figure out what he would tolerate and he was on a completely dairy free diet for a few weeks! Now that was hard!! EVERYthing has milk in it! Sorry your dd still has to deal with allergies, it's no fun.

As for the invites and stuff, i got all of those off the Creative DISigns board! It's great!

Cake looks good.

Joey running away'll be one of those stories you'll be telling for years to come!

Wow! You are on the ball. I can't believe how many updates you've done. :goodvibes I'm excited to hear about the GF Photoshoot.

Day 1 Cont - GF Photo Shoot

I don't have my photopass CD yet, but UPS is supposed to be delivering it tomorrow so i can post the pics then. But i can still report!

After our dinner at 1900 Park Fare, we wandered over to the photopass desk for our appt. We had to quickly change shirts, and freshen everyone up. One thing i thougth was odd was that they didn't have any place to do this! Usually Disney thinks of everything and is so prepared for any little thing a guest needs. Well they didn't this time. And to make matters worse, the bathroom on the 2nd floor of the GF was being renovated at the time, so we had to walk back down to the restaurant outside of 1900 Park Fare. PLUS, we had the cake from dinner, and our bags/diaper bags and 2 strollers with us that we had to take with us during the photo shoot because there was no place to put it while we were walking around the resort. :confused3 It was annoying. Even if we hadn't come from dinner/the parks, I still would have had 2 strollers, a diaper bag, my purse/carry all and a camera bag. I didn't expect to have to schlep all that around with me.

Anyway, so our photographer was really great. Dh HATES to get his picture taken :scared: and also isn't real great about being the center of attention. So how great was it that i schedule a private photo session around one of the most popular resorts!!??! Yeah, he wasn't to happy with me at the time. But he got over it, and we got some really great shots. Joey was not that cooperative at being still for his solo shots. most of the stuff she got of him were more candid shots, taken while he wasn't really paying attention. They were really great, and so were the family shots. I can't wait to see the CD tomorrow!!

We finished up the shoot about 740pm, and decided to just head back to the resort. Originally i wanted to stay and catch the Electric Water Pagent and hopefully see Wishes on the beach. But the EWP didn't start until 9pm, and both kids were getting really antsy. DD wanted to head back and go swimming. So i caved and decided to catch EWP another time. We decided to take a taxi back rather than fighting with 2 different transportations with both strollers and all the bags, AND the cake. The valet at GF got us a cab right away (Happy Anniversary!) and the ride cost us $20 with tip. Not to bad, because we were back in our room by 8pm!!

We get back to our room and woo hooO!!! :cool1: We've been chosen as RESORT FAMILY OF THE DAY!! I didn't even know this existed!!! We got a cute little Magical Moment certificate, a really cool rubix cube and a magnetic picture frame. Also turndown service and mints! :thumbsup2 Gotta love Disney Mints!!

Got the kids all changed and off to the Hippy Dippy Pool we go!! Well, actually the zero entry pool right next to it. ;)
(pardon my pictures, for the life of me i can't figure out how to take pictures at night :lmao: )

Well, it had gotten pretty cold pretty fast, and Jackie needed to get a bath and her hair washed before BBB the next morning, so we called it a night pretty early. (it must have been cold as the kids didn't really put up a big fight :scared1: )

Now....how would it be getting Joey to go to sleep??? Remember the night before in the hotel it was a NIGHTMARE!! :headache: He screamed and cried for almost 2 hrs before falling asleep. Well we must have worn him out pretty good today, because once everyone was bathed and in jammmies and tucked into bed, they were both asleep within 15 minutes!! WOO HOO!!

- on WDWTV, didn't there used to be bedtime stories that the princesses would read?? Not really a cartoon, basically just a picture from the book with a princess narrating it?? I thought there was when we were there in 12/05, but i couldn't find anything like that this time. So the kids fell asleep to Hanana Montana most nights. :rotfl:

up next - DAY 2 !! BBB, Crystal Palace and Spectro Magic

I cna't wait to see the pics from the GF Photoshoot. Maybe Disney will make arrangements for families with strollers and bag storage in the future. Glad the kiddos went to bed good. Mine always do when we're on vacation, not so much at home. :) I think they're so worn out by the end of the day.

What a day!! Sounds like it ended well though - 2 kids asleep in 15 minutes is a good day in my book! :goodvibes

So, if you pre-order the Photopass CD, then you are eligible for the GF photo shoot? I'm intrigued by this. I'd love to get a nice family shot and maybe use it for our Christmas cards. Looking forward to seeing your pictures!

I hope BBB went well - can't wait to hear about day 2 and beyond!

can't wait to hear more!!!:goodvibes

Thanks! Coming up soon!

Yeah, they should definately make a little room or a cubby or something. Lugging all that stuff around was much worse than doing it in the parks!

YES!! In fact, the photoshoot was only $25 because we had prepurchased the CD, instead of the $149 or whatever it normally is. lots of DIS'ers have posted their photoshoots for xmas cards!

Hey theres nothing wrong with Hannah Montana:)
just caught up with your trip report, sounds like you had a great time, cant wait to read some more!
