Lady and the Tramp's Disney with Food Allergies TR ~COMPLETE

Your shirts turned out so good! Can't wait to see them on everyone.:cutie:

Hi! Julia here...

Great trip report! Have fun ~ cute shirts! I have two kids who are 18 mos apart- they're now 6 and 4 (almost 5) and I remember them at 4 & 2- no way would I have wanted to do the waterpark either! Epcot sounds like a good alternative.

Make sure to update w/pix after you get back! :hippie:

Oh my goodness, i'm so excited!! Only 2 days left!! We are leaving right after work on Tuesday to head down to Indy for the night. Our flight leaves Wednesday morning at 8am and we get into MCO at 1030am. I can't wait! This is going to be such a great trip!

Hey Jennifer! Don't forget sunscreen and tank tops! LOL. It's HOT down here.

I think you may want to pack a change of clothes/underwear for dinner tomorrow night in your carry-on for the plane. I'd hate to see you go there in your bathing suits :rotfl2: b/c ME luggage didn't arrive in time for you to leave the hotel and get to the restaurant.

:scared1: I have no tank tops for anyone!! OMG!! I spent so much time making t-shirts for every dang day plus extra's, I completely forgot that it's probaby going to be rather hot!! 24 hrs before we leave and this is when i figure this out?!?!?!? UGH!!!

Don't worry about sunscreen though, as I already sent that down in teh box ahead of time. And I do have a change of clothes put aside to change into. Unfortunatly the weather took a turn for the worse around here, so we'll have to wear jeans to the airport, and probably on the plane too, and just change as soon as we can. Yeah, it was a lovely 28 degress outside this morning!! Thank goodness i'm headed to florida!!!:cool1:

Have a great trip. Sounds like your ready after reading your to do list. Glad to hear they are so accomodating with the allergies in the restaurants. I guess they are used to it though. Your kids will love Pop.

I love the shirts!

You should be in WDW by now! Have a great TRIP! I am sure you will be doing a TR when you get back and I can't wait to read it!!! :goodvibes

We are back and the trip was great!! Seriously the kids were absolutely PERFECT and we had NO MELTDOWNS at all and very very very few tears. We ran them ragged and packed in a lot of stuff in a very short time!! I'll be starting the trip report as soon as I can !

I can't wait to hear all about it. I hope you took lots of pics. :)

2 kids and no meltdowns...sounds like a perfect trip!

Can not wait to read all about the trip!!!!!

2 kids and no meltdowns...sounds like a perfect trip!

I know!! :scared1: I couldn't believe how well they behaved, considering how little sleep we had!!

Can not wait to read all about the trip!!!!!

Well i'm already all caught up at work (yeah, my job is really slow!) so I should be able to start in the next day or so! (plus now i get to work on my DFTVW!!!      )

Oh my goodness, I'm still so tired right now! I need a vacation to recover from my vacation!!

Our Trip Down

Dh and I both had to work on Tuesday, but i did manage to leave work at 4, instead of 5. I ran home to get the mail, and wash up the last of the dishes. :guilty: Went to get the kids from School, and headed off to pick up DH (we all car pool together every day :thumbsup2 ) Grabbed DH and we were on our way to Indianapolis by 530pm!! WOO HOO!! Now, yes we do have a great airport here in South Bend, actually with a NON-STOP flight to Sanford, FL. :thumbsup2 But when i booked the tickets, those flights were $200 pp, and I got NW out of Indy for $150 pp. And the flight times when we booked left at 1030am, so we didn't need to drive down the night before, thus it really saved us money. (we got a schedule change about 2 weeks after we booked, changing us from departing at 1030am, to departing at 830am. But we got into MCO at 1030am, so we actually had a good arrival day!) We decided that rather than wake up at 3am to drive down, we would just drive down after work and get a better night sleep. HA!! Little did we know what was instore for us!!!

The drive from South Bend to Indianapolis has got to be the absolute worst drive in the whole country!! Yes, it is a US highway, but it runs through all these small towns, so there are stoplights EVERYWHERE!! It really ruins your travel time, not to mention gas mileage! And these are small farm towns, so there really isn't much to look at except cows, corn, and soybeans. We did see an Alpaca Farm, and an Ostrich Farm. :thumbsup2 But the kids got ansy about 20 minutes into the drive, so we broke out the portable DVD player. Now, we use this ONLY for long car rides. We got it back in 11/05 for our last trip to disney, and we've only used it maybe 2 or 3 times since then. The last time was in FEB when we had a snow day and I had to bring the kids in to work with me, so i brought that so they could watch movies. Well, it's not the greatest one, so it would skip around alot and had trouble reading the Disks. DH wanted to buy a new one, a really good one for like $200! HELLO! I'm about to go on vacation, I dont' want to spend $200 for a DVD player to watch on a 2 hr flight, considering they would only be able to watch it for an hour, between take of and landing. :headache: So we didn't buy one. It lasted about 45 minutes before it started skipping. Oh well, that was just about the time we had to stop for dinner. It was already almost 7pm, and the kids still hadn't eaten yet. So we stopped at Chili's in Kokomo. Now, i would have much rather gone thru a drive thru, and gotten it to go, so we could have gotten to the hotel earlier and given the kids a chance to stretch before bed time. DH wanted to relax and eat. (this is going to bite him in the butt! You just wait...)

Finish dinner, which only had 3 episodes of thrown food and screaming, and back on the road for the remainder of the trip down. We got to the hotel a little after 9pm. It's way past bedtime, and the kids had just reached that point of dozing off, when we got there. So we check in and get to the room, and you all know what happened right. That's right.....Joey got his 2nd wind. And it's the EXHAUSTED BEYOND BELIEF kind. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Plus i think he was probably a little freaked out about the hotel room and stuff. So we try the TV, looking out the window at the trucks, snacks, back rubs, physically holding him in bed, nothing is working to calm him down. Jackie fell asleep about 1045pm, but Joey was still going strong. He was fine as long as we didnt' try to put him in bed. If he was just running from 1 end of the room to the other, it was good. Once we tried to settle him down and put him to bed, he went nuts. "Go Away, Leave me alone" became his favorite phrase. Will he ever go to sleep!?!?!?!?! Have to completely jinxed oursevles before the trip even starts? Will the notorious paper thin walls at Pop result in a call to DCFS as my son screams every night???

It's all good, he finally wore himself out about 1145pm. But the alarm went of at 6am. I got up, got dressed and packed everythign up. Got the kids up at 630am, and they actually did suprisingly well for so little sleep. We are out of the room in 15 minutes!! :thumbsup2 And the shuttle leaves at 7am, so we have time for a quick bite at the hotel.

We catch the shuttle, which we have all to ourselves, breeze thru check in, and head to security. Shoes off, strollers folded up, diaper bags open and emptied (because of the cream:rolleyes: ) and all bags in the bins. Check! Each child walks thru alone. Check! Mommy's purse gets scanned, and TSA wants to hand search it. OK no big deal, as I'm trying to wrangle a squirming 2 yr old back into his shoes and stroller. So they search my purse, and then re-scan it. TSA says i have a razor blade hidden somewhere!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: WHAT?!?!? No way, why would I have a razor blade in my purse? DH knows, and tells them exactly where it is too. :guilty: :guilty: I am a cake decorating instructor at a craft store, and I had a razor blade to scrape old tape of the display case, and stuck it inside the change compartment of my purse. This was like back in OCTOBER!! :guilty: :guilty: Oh i felt so horrible! Like they thought i was trying to smuggle something bad on. He just took it and walked away, and let us continue on our merry way. Alteast they found it! :thumbsup2

So we recover from that fiasco and get to the gate with a few minutes to spare. Let me backtrack a second here, and say that the night before my contacts were really bothering me, so i took them out. Well this morning my left eye was still sore and red, so i left that contact out, but put my right one in, because i didn't bring my glasses. :guilty: I have the extended wear contacts, and tend to extend my time, usually by MONTHS. I know, horrible, thus the reason my eye was bothering me but not much i could do about it then. SO i walked thru the airport with 1 blind eye, and 1 good eye. I told DH i was practicing for the P&PP! Aaaarrrrggggghhhh! pirate: He didn't laugh. I'm sure security thought the crazy 1 eye opened lady was a terrorist, espically with teh hidden razor blade. ;)

On to the plane!! Joey was not impressed with his first flight. He does have ear tubes, but I don't think that is what freaked him out. when the plane was taking off, he woudl get all ridgid and tense, and say "NO NO NO", but he was fine when we were cruising. I think he just didnt' like the up and down. Jackie was fine, we worked on her Journal and Activity Books. It would have been great if she fell asleep, but she didn't. Joey did take a quick little nap for about 30 minutes, but it's better than nothing. Finally we land!!!

Up next.................Disney Magical Express, we get to POP and head to Epcot!!

:yay: You started your trippie! Can't wait for you to arrive. Love the matching Tshirts on those adorable kids. My DS gets those second winds too if he takes a catnap when he is exhausted. We have had the same hotel stay on our way down in Spetmber 2006. By time we stopped it was near 10Pm and when we got in the room he thought it was party time and also wasn't fond of sleeping somewhere strange. Funny once we got to Disney he was fine and happy to stay there for the week.

Glad you brought up the contacs. Can you carry them on the plane in their case with saline solution?? We are flying in July and I won't be able to put the min at 6am since I have dry eyes.

Yeah, i took my case, plus a small bottle of solution with no problem. I switched to the new Oasys ones, that are supposed to be more breathable, and I've had nothing but problems with them! It seems my eyes are MORE dry and irrated than before!:confused3

I'm like you. When we're traveling, I want to get something through drive-thru and get back on the road. My DH always wants to go in and rest. Glad the kiddos did so well on such little sleep. :goodvibes It always worries me when I go through security that I have something in my purse that I've forgotten about. I bet you about died when they found that razor balde. :rotfl2: Glad it all turned out OK. Hopefully you got new contacts in soon. You have to be able to see Disney.:)
