Does anyone use their GYN as a regualr (general practioner) doctor?

My mom is telling me that that is all they used to have... What more does a woman need?

I LOVE my ob/gyn, but haven't found a GP that I really like...

No, but I wish I could!! I love my obgyn too, but my primary care physician...well, I've only met her once maybe twice! I usually see a NP or PA, and it's a different one almost every time I go. The office is disorganized and dingy too. Fortunately, I don't have to go there much.

My OB/GYN is my doctor for everything from my yearly check ups to my anxiety problems.

Unless I need a specialist (He said yesterday that I needed to see an allergist) then I use him.

No. My ob/gyn is a good doctor, just not someone I'd want as my primary care doctor. I really, really like my primary care doctor.

My PCM (primary care manager) does not do my yearly visits but they do happen in his office by his PA, which is a sweetie. When I need something done by a specialist or should I get preg then I would be allowed to go onto an ob/gyn.

I've used my GP as my gyno. I had him do a pap smear since I had to see him for a refill of synthroid. With 3 kids I have to multi task.

My Mom's GP is the same for her. He delivered my brother (37 years ago) & his partner delivered me. They were very young then but the partner retired & her Dr. is retiring this year. So, yes, I think 30+ years ago, maybe this was more common. I have a GP & OB/GYN. It would be nice to have 1 so they would have a record of all my med. history, not just part of it.

My OB/GYN would not do anything but the female exam and baby stuff. Anything else (headache, sore throat, etc.) I'd have to go to my GP. But since my GP will do the female exam as part of my yearly physical and I'm not pregnant, I use my GP and not my OB/GYN.

My OB/GYN tells me if its not happening below the waist, call my PCP! I love both my OBGYN and my PCP, so I dont mind seeing either! Both are in the same medical building anyway!
