Hiya

I am looking for some advice from anyone whos had a baby!!

How the heck do you stop the bump ache when you sleep!!! Its keeping me up

Also howd you avoid eating like a horse, I am even fancying cider which I dont drink even when not pregnant as I have an allergy!

One last thing, how long were you in maternity clothes after birth?

thanks anna

I sleep on my tum so shoved a pillow under my leg and sprawled across it - very elegant :lmao:

Problem is, after 3 kids, I can't get out of the habit and shove a spare pillow, in my suitcase, just in case there isn't a spare, whenever we go anywhere ;)

I didn't, particularly, try to avoid eating and was out of maternity clothes pretty quickly (just wore some of my 'normal' looser ones for a little while)

Not sure whether you're planning to breast feed but I found that helped with weight loss :thumbsup2

the only thing I remember about being pregnant was that EVERYTHING was abnormal! :rotfl2: I did the same as Alison and used a pillow to ease my bumpy shape when lying down.
I think the cider craving could be due to a lack of something in your diet, try fizzy apple juice to see if that eases the want. I wouldn't advise alcohol if theres an alternative.

I could never sleep when pregnant, think it's getting you ready for sleepless nights :) I was lucky though as my kiddies are great sleepers.

As for the eating thing, I was very healthy with DS and with DD would have a whole cheesecake for dinner until I caught myself on! Just be careful you are not taken too much sugar :)

I am still wearing my maternity linen trousers 16 weeks after DD was born although I am back in regular clothes too :)

I had a small pillow that I wedged under the bump to prop me up. My DD always woke up when I went to bed and kicked all night long. Once she was born she was practically nocturnal (we joked about emigrating to Australia to sort out her sleeping patterns.) Now she's 14 she is still a night owl.

I'd eat anything I was allowed to. There were so many things pregnant women were mant to avoid - the list is probably even longer now.

I wore maternity clothes for months afterwards. I had to make a concerted effort to lose weight after having my children, breast feeding didn't help the weight loss (but then snacking on Mars bars while I did the night feeds didn't help!)

I had a great little wedge thing that I got from mothercare that I put under the bump, that helped with sleeping but tbh toward the end of both pregnancies I was up all night as I just couldn't get comfortable.

I wore maternity clothes for probably 2-3 months after Harley was born, I had a C section though and couldn't bare to have anything like regular jeans pulling on my belly! I did b/f too and I don't think that helped me to lose any weight either.

I also ate what ever I wanted within reason - I avoided everything that you are meant to- except one time when we were on holiday and they had thai prawns and chilli sauce on the menu for dinner in the hotel, I had to have them as I was seriously craving them, my midwife said it was ok once or twice but just not all the time!

Hi Anna

Just thought I would say that I sympathise with the sleepless nights! The only solution I have found so far is Disney! When we were in DLRP last week I was so tired every night it was the best sleep I have had in ages. I don't have any practical tips (if I did, I would be sleeping!) but I do find having mine or Andy's hand on bump very comforting and it seems to help me sleep.

I am hungry so often, I try to be good during the week and have fruit, or veg sticks with dip but do indulge at the weekends and a sausage sandwich and chocolate always creep in as well! I have managed to stay off the alcohol, but I have promised myself a malibu and coke on Andy's 30th birthday in August!

Good luck with everything and if you want to swap pregnancy niggles, please PM me! This is my first baby too, so it is all new to me as well.

hey now I can add that my cramp is back lol, somebody told me its a lack of magnesium?

I have invested in some more pillows, and slept from 11pm till 5am today so six hours not too bad, may be up early as I have my pram and nursery furniture arriving today

I can sympathise too !

I bought a feeding pillow (one of those v shape things ) that I used prior to the birth to rest my bump on. I did find like Alison I ended up using it afterwards too though.

Like t16Gem I had a c section so wore my maternity clothes or at least clothes a size bigger than normal for a few months after the birth as they didn't irritate my wound . Anything with zips was a big no-no then.

I think cravings are a sign of something missing in your diet that baby is needing. I think it would be best if these didn't include some of the growing list of things you aren't allowed, but hey baby can't read the list :lmao: . I think a little of anything won't do you much harm . My downfall was stodgy things like custard (which I otherwise would never have eaten so much) but I do admit to having the odd runny egg ;).

I am seriously missing prawns I used to have them twice a week

I lost my appetite when I was pregnant! I find this highly amusing as I love my food so much!

Well this just goes to show how everyone is different! I slept like a baby:rotfl2: when I was pregnant, sleep really badly now!!! Did the pillow under the leg but food wise just ate as normal for first pregnancy but second I was really off food, just the smell made me ill, I'd lost 1/2 stone when the baby was born compared to pre conceiving weight. I wore loose clothing for about a month before getting back into my normal clothes. I remember DH bringing a dress to the hospital for me that was tight fitting around the waist (no way) he got and ear bashing for that!!!

Oh, fell for that one didn't I!!!! Nooooooo, I slept soundly! (Was going to say like a log but I'll bet you've got a good line for that one too haven't you?):rotfl2:

Sleep? Can someone please remind me what that is. :rotfl:

I have tried the body pillow thing you can get and a normal pillow, but as I have a bad back anyway (don't fall down the stairs, it hurts) I have just resigned myself to not getting much sleep. I sleep for maybe 2 hours at a time, get up and dander about, then try to sleep again. A late afternoon nap has become my saviour.

I did get a gliding chair and footstool and find that I can rest/nap in it and be quite comfy, you are not laying down so your bump doesn't hurt as much. Have you tried 40 winks sitting up? :confused3

based on my experience you got of lightly. I lost 2 stones, had to be dripped fed by a tube for over a month, had an IV drip almost every week in hospital.

As you can see from my ticker I recently had my first little DD - I am still in maternity clothes but this is now mainly due to my section scar as I don't like tight things on it yet.

Mind you since I am breastfeeding I am not back in to my pre-pregnancy tops either yet as they don't fit across the top! ;)

Towards the end of the pregnancy I bearly slept at night as I was too hot and uncomfortable. I never had my bump ache as I was actually quite small even up to the time I had my DD.

Elise :goodvibes
