ladies.....where to buy a swimsuit? reasonably priced.

I got a Speedo brand one piece from either Sports Authority or maybe Academy (I don't remember which one). It is high on the neck line, low on the hip line, racer back and very flattering cut for my not so 20ish body.

I would love LE but just cannot afford it.

I saw some Miracle Suits (not sure if that is the exact brand but that slimming type suit) 1 piece and tankinis at TJ Maxx for under $40.

Target has some nice swimsuits that range in all sizes. I got a really nice one there for about $30.

OK ladies ........tell me PLEASE.

I am a "mom" and I am not a size 2-4-6. I am not a twenty-something year old and I do not need a lot of gold lemay on my suit.

I about had a stroke when I looked at a land's end catalog for a suit. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I looked at Kohl's today and the suits were very tiny........not exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm not a plus size......just a regular size.......a mom who needs a swimsuit. For less than $150!

Where have you had luck?

Go back to Kohls we just got a huge shipment. On Friday they will be on sale I think for 40% off or more. They have some nice ones.

Hi, I got a nice swimsuit at Sears last year. I love it. I'm a Mom and don't feel comfortable in some of the tiny suits I see. This one from Sears was great. It was two pieces. The bottoms were more like boards shorts so had coverage over the thigh area. Chasing a 2 yr old son I liked that. The top was a tank top style. The top was long enough to meet the shorts so the stomach did not show. The bottoms were solid and the top had stripes. I felt it was sporty but gave nice coverage. It was about $40 I believe.

I'm a mom too, who needs a suit that is flattering but comfy as I run after kids all day. I love my Lands' End suits. I think they are very reasonably priced, especially if you buy from the overstocks. I have a tankini that I've worn for the past 8 years and it still looks brand new (of course it only sees use on vacation a few times a year for the most part). I like tops that are cut a little higher in the bust and I also like the coverage of the #2 leg openings in the bottoms.

I'm so excited that they have suits at Sears stores now too. I'm going to go in and try on some of the new LE beach living separates because I need to buy a slightly smaller size. :cool1:

I have to admit that in a rush of anxiety I did buy a new suit from J C Penney last summer before a trip. They had a good selection, but it is not as good of quality as my LE and it doesn't fit me as well either.

Good luck!

Do you have something against 28 year old moms who are a size 3/4????? :guilty: I too am finding a hard time finding a bathing suit. My hubby wants me to still wear my string bikini, but I refuse to wear that out in public now that I have 3 kiddos. I would LOVE a tankini but cannot find one for a decent price. :confused3

Again, I say Land's End Overstocks. They do carry 4s occasionally (my DD is a 4, I'm a 6).

Last time I looked, the Not Quite Perfect page had a bunch of suits that the color wasn't quite right. I LOVE the NQPs, because even though it's NQP, they'll still take it back if you don't like it! And I get GREAT deals!

I have bought many swimsuits over the years, some pricey (for me) $60-$70 and some not so pricey-$30. The one that I love and keep going back to is a tankini from Target. I believe the brand is Mossimo, but I love it. I'm a tall, woman (6'1") so I was surprised it even fit me, but it does and I love it. I bought another one this year from there, but I haven't tried it yet!

Lands end and LL bean are pricy but well worth the money. They will last your for years and look great. So you can shell out 60bucks this year and get a great suit and have it last for 3 years or shell out 25-45 bucks a year on a suit.

Other options

Newport News
Old Navy
Macys

Lands End overstocks are great. I have made two orders of lots of different ones, kept the ones I wanted, even let a girl at work try and buy a few of them. I then took what I didn't want to Sears and my credit card was credited in three days!!! it's a great way to buy a suit. You get to try it on at home and really think about it. I even kept a couple of the NQP which were super, super prices!!

I'm a plus size and love my Maxine's of Hollywood, too. Got it at TJ Maxx a few years ago. I need to find a replacement soon, but dread all the trying til I find one I'm willing to go out in public in.

I was also going to recommend Newport News! I've found some great suits there. They also have a good return policy, but you do have to pay return shipping. There's a suit in the NN catalog that I really like. I'm not a mom, (though I am a 14) but I totally understand wanting a suit that looks nice and isn't skimpy!

I'll recommend Newport News, too!

I bought 2 from there last summer, and they actually look decent on me (something to hide the tummy). And they don't look like old-lady suits.

I also like the fact that they have a good assortment of long torso since I'm tall.

I can't believe no one has brought up Ross...I think I have owned 4 suits there of varying styles and brands, none costing over $20. Before we went to Jamaica, DH offered to get me a "real" swimsuit so I found one I liked...$75. Instead, I bought 3 at Ross so I could alternate and still had money left to buy 2 coverups (which, being a size 14 mom, I really needed). This time of year, they have a lot of selection, but they sell out very quickly.

I have a backyard pool & live in bathing suits all summer; prefer the 2 piece tankinis. None really last more than a season or 2 with such heavy wear (even though I religiously rinse the chlorine out).

While it runs 2 sizes large, and not the greatest material; disney shopping has the womans mickey mouse tank on clearance again for less than $15 - it's cute.

jcpenny's tend to wear well for me.

Yesterday, I ordered a new tankini from Lands End's Not-Quite-Perfect site. It cost me $27, including shipping. It was exactly what I was looking for, too.

I haven't read all the suggestions but I bought one at Value City last year. It was a Tommy Hillfiger that was $68 originally and I got it for $12. My best find yet!:cool1:
