Ladies-- What did you wear if you remarried?

I am trying to decide what kind of gown to wear for an informal second wedding. Does anyone have any ideas of online sites or national stores? I don't want a big white wedding gown. I don't want a floorlength gown. This will be a wedding with less than 30 people--just family members. I'd like something knee length, romantic, maybe pink or champagne colored--not a suit or a prom dress! Everything seems to be more mature mother of the bride-ish or else way too young for me.

I'm having a heck of a time finding this imaginary dress! I'd love some ideas from anyone who has been there.

Why not have someone custom make you the dress of your dreams. My SIL did this and it was absolutely beautiful.

This issue drove me to tears in the dressing room of a dress shop! I didn't want the long white dress, but I wanted people to know that I was the bride! I ended up having a lovely silk chiffon tea length dress made for me and it was quite affordable.

I bought a bridesmaid dress in cream for my second wedding. I LOVED the dress! It was really affordable also. My sister just got remarried this past weekend and she wore a bridesmaid dress in a light, pale green color. Our dresses were floor length, but you can probably find something shorter. My wedding was about 30 people also - very small and perfect! :)

Also remember, just because something is a floor length gown doesn't mean it can't be shortened if it is perfect in every other way!!!!!!

I have a friend who remarried, and she found a lovely tea length cream colored dress with a lace long jacket(the same length as the dress) and looked quite lovely.

I found a Jessica McClintock dress almost like for our wedding. It was a very light shade of pink with lace arms. The dress was knee length and little pleats all the way down. It didn't look like a traditional wedding gown, but it certainly did accomplish the look I wanted. I wore flowers in my hair -- again, I didn't want the bride look.

We had 28 at our wedding -- a second for both of us. It was truly the perfect amount for us.

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. I wish you years and years of happiness.

My dress was white with creamy beige mixed in for my 2nd wedding. We had a traditional wedding since it was my dh first (and only ;) ).

good luck
its hard enough finding a wedding dress and/or bridesmaids gowns

Try Chadwicks. I got a really cute Bridesmaid dress from there.

I wore a light beige lace dress made by Gunny Sax (are they still around??) it was calf length, 3/4 sleeve, with a satin slip, camisole top. And baby's breath in my hair.....enough, but not too much.

My brother recently remarried, it was also his wife's second marriage, both are around 40. They had a small church wedding followed by a dinner for about 45. She is a plus size, she got a creme colored suit dress from the JC Penney catalog and had it altered to fit her.

I was 36 when I married for the 2nd time. The ceremony was 11 am in the small function room of a restuarant, a luncheon followed. It was our immediate family (his 4 kids, my 1, our parents, and their families). DH wore a suit and tie...I wore a very pale peach colored 2 piece, w/knee length skirt...it was kind of a linen/silk texture and a satiny finish on the yoke. It had pretty pearl cluster buttons down the front (I found earring that were just like the buttons!) I suppose technically it was a suit since it was 2 pieces and buttoned up the front, but it had no collar and wasn't designed to wear a shirt under the top, and with the color, fabric and accessories it seemed more romantic and dressy than a suit, yet appropriate for the daytime-second-wedding cerermony and luncheon. I found it in an upscale local ladies clothing store....on the "sale" rack of their fairly small collection of more formal clothes. I thought it was perfect and still do ;)
Do you live near a reasonable sized city or area where there woudl be more one-of-a- kind boutique type stores as opposed to chains or on-line catalogs? You might find something a little more unique that way.
You'll know what you want when you see it :) !!!!

We rented a hall for the evening, and a DJ and invited about 150 more people for an informal "party"...no gifts, no wedding "stuff"...just snacks and soda, cash bar, dancing, friends , fun, and relaxation...DH wore jeans and I wore corduroys :teeth:

Enjoy the planning and prep...and the second wedding/marriage....I know the second time was the charm for us ;) :teeth:

Not sure...it would depend on the guy ;) Gown, maybe for me.

Thank you so much for all the replies. I've been pulling my hair out on this one. I know that I'm certainly not the only person to remarry--I'm not young and I don't need the whole big, expensive wedding! How come it's so hard to find something romantic and pretty but not too young or too matronly?

I really appreciate all the replies and good wishes. If it were up to me, we'd just get married at City Hall or Vegas but my fiance insists on something more meaningful...which is sweet but a pain to plan what with buying a new house and moving around the same time! I'll keep looking--darn, this means shopping, doesn't it?
