So..little background...Me, mother of 3 kiddos (8, 3 and 5 mnths.), teacher - out for the summer, etc. Needing a break, so I went with a friend and her two kiddos to Burger King for lunch. I, in flip flops, capri jeans, tshirt- very little makeup, and straight hair -PLAIN JANE!! (this was a last minute lunch idea)- gathered the kids to go.
Now...I am in the drink machine line...lady (mid 50s or so) -
DID NOT KNOW HER AT ALL, eating with her husband walks up to me... and says "You look very pretty and glowing today!" "You must be feeling really good!"
(Little did she even know..that DS (5 months) had slept through the night!!!) I guess that it made a small difference in my looks?
WOW!
I felt like a $1M- just by that one little comment! I thanked her so much for building me up like that! Not that I was down on myself, but just that someone was nice enough to recognize someone else like ME and compliment them.
We, as a society...but mostly as women...do not compliment each other like we should. We are so critical of each other on looks, work vs. stay at home, family life styles, cultures, religions, etc.....and we miss out on our own "sisterhood!"
So, ladies- UNITE! Let's build each other up more often- try it once, then do it again tomorrow. Compliment yourself, your family member, your friend, a neighbor- and even a stranger....That lady will never know what her comment did for me today!
By the way...you really do look great- inside and out!
