Okay lets go for the fun topics Monday morning :lmao:

I know they aren't my grandmother's girdle anymore but have you guys used them and had good luck. I have an event that I would like to wear one, I have a form fitting black dress and I think I may be more comfortable with one under the dress. I want that sleek look.

I saw Oprah the other day and she recommended Donna Karen but it didn't seem that high up. I also heard that spanx (?) had a good one too.

Also, what style do you use... they have the panty looking kind, full slip and corset (sp?) kind. I like the idea of the full slip but I don't want a smashed uni**** look.

What do you guys use or have your friends used?

Isn't it great to be an aging Mom? I would have never thought about a girdle before kids:rotfl2:

I actually like the "control" slip with underwire bra built in from Flexees, it is not heavy duty control but really gives a smooth look.

I bought one for a cruise once. HATED it. It didn't make me look slimmer, it just pushed the bulk around and it popped out at weird places. At least with the natural fat there weren't big "ridges" where the slimmer ended and my real body began!!

Spent about $50 on that sucker and ended up pitching it.

YMMV

I bought one for my daughter's wedding. It came up to right under my strapless bra. Everytime I sat down the girdle thingy caused the bra to ride up. It was very uncomfortable!

I've also tried the spanx. These fit from the waist to above the knee. They are pretty comfortable, but they slide down (like stockings) & you have to keep pulling them up! I've given up!:confused3

Do you remember the name brand... so I know what not to buy ;)

I have never used them and never would. I can't even stand to wear control top panty hose so I know I couldn't tolerate those things. It's soo hard to find panty hose that aren't control top. I guess that's why I cycle 80-100 miles a week and lift weights. Honestly I have cycling shorts that are waaaayyy more comfortable than those things. My mom used to think I committed a mortal sin by not wearing a girdle after I had kids-she was OLD school. When I start seeing guys try to squeeze their rears and abs into those things I'll consider it.

I understand the whole working out thing... I am training for a half marathon in April but I gave birth to 3 big babies... the smallest 9 lbs 7 ozs and the biggest 10 lbs 3 ozs....

So needless to say my stomach is like a balloon it was BLOWN up 3 times it will never go back to it's original shape.... :rotfl2:

I was hoping if I found a body slimmer just to pull in some of it in.... I would feel more like the old me...

I bought one to at Penney's or Macy's (can't remember which). It was a shorts part and came all the way and included a bra. I have larger hips and a pooch. I wanted something to wear under a dress to give me a smoother look but didn't have the crease at the waist. It was OK for the evening but I felt like a sausage.

Wow, thanks for posting this 'cause I also work out and had three babies (9 pounds each), and I am very thin boned and always have been thin, so this extra belly is very disconcerting. I've done crunches and sit-ups, weights and lots of exercies and I think it's the best I can get it to be naturally. It's good to know I'm not alone with this!

I didn't mean to imply that I have a 6 pack. I'm dealing with a menopot so I know what you mean. I just refuse to be that uncomfortable. :scared: I choose clothing that doesn't accentuate that area. I'm almost 49 and have worked out for a LOOONG time and I'm here to tell you it's natural(as much as we hate it) for women to be rounded in the abdominal and hip area and very exercise resistant. I had small babies by C-section and I still had a pot. And 22 years later I still am thick waisted. If I felt horrible about that area I guess I'd wear something, but I don't and everyone I know thinks I look great as is.

I've tried a couple of different ones with varying degrees of success, but they've all been the full-torso ones, ones that have about as much coverage as a one-piece swimsuit. I couldn't deal with the thought of having to worry about various ends rolling and ending up 8 inches from where they started!

The one I have now I actually bought at Wal-Mart, if you can believe that. It does exactly what the one I paid 5x as much for, and there's no "migration" no matter what I do. :thumbsup2

I'd stay away from Bodyslimmers by Nancy Ganz brand- the cause of my junior prom frontal wedgie incident.
