Another great update! What a nice morning/afternoon at AK. I  AK and I swear I am going on those trails this spring!!!!!!

Isn't it crazy when you can't remember what you did. I definately have moments like that and I promise to take notes on my next Trip.

I love your dinner at Cali Grill. The food looks awesome and Jen looks so pretty. Where is your dinner picture????? Those flat breads look sooooooooo good. I must try one of them. YUM!

You found the Dawa Bar, but you didn't get a drink??? :faint: I hope you fixed that later in the trip.

Now, Christine, why are you a bat chicken? They are really awfully cute! ;)

I really, really, really hope the meerkats are out the next time we go -- I love watching them and was so disappointed when they were all hiding in the burrows in June.

Dinner at California Grill looks absolutely fabulous!!! Yum, yum, yum! That is definitely a place I would love to eat at. Jen looks so pretty! Where's your pic, C?

I believe this is the BLT flatbread: with Heirloom Tomatoes, Applewood Bacon, Provolone, Crisp Romaine, and Lemon Mayonnaise $14.00

I'm going to have a hard time choosing between this and the sushi!

For the main course I was going with their signature – the pork and polenta. Grilled Pork Tenderloin - with goat cheese polenta, button mushrooms and zinfandel glaze $32. Very, very good.

I'm SO getting this!!!!!

Speaking of Miss Jen, doesn’t she look cute at her birthday dinner?

DSC01560.jpg

Yes she does :goodvibes

Love reading about CG!!!

I just booked it for my B-day too! Can't wait!!!:goodvibes

Lookin' forward to the big reveal about your TR title in your next post!;) Sounds like it will be an interesting one!

great update C!!

Sounds like a lovely, albeit warm, day at AK!!!

Your dinner at Cali Grill looks so yummy!!! DH and I loved Cali Grill when we went in March!!!

Your Cali Grill dinner looked really good! So glad you got to enjoy Jen's birthday and have such a nice meal!

Cali Grill is officially on my list for July, and perhaps my birthday meal. It looks delicious!
What time do you suggest in order to see Wishes?

Jen looks just adorable and quite happy!

You'll have to wait for me to catch up to see her pic and yes there is one LOL and she looks fabulous!!!!! I'm going to update tomorrow but that was going to be Rose N Crown so I might have to do two LOL!!!

I'm really enjoying your TR! :goodvibes

Loved your pictures of the Ditch. :lmao: I really must try it the next time I go. I am a huge fan of tequila. :rolleyes1

I wish I could tell you what I did with my afternoon but I have no idea. I think I probably waited out the rain in my room or on the balcony and then maybe hit the pool for a bit before a very special dinner at the California Grill. Or as I think about it perhaps this was the afternoon I did laundry.

I can’t say that I’ve ever really felt an urge to stay here. I’m just not a “contemporary” kind of gal. Although I can see where the ability to walk into the MK and hop on the monorail would be pretty sweet. And after seeing the models of BLT, the idea of soaking in the Jacuzzi tub with an MK view is pretty awesome. Maybe someday.

We got to see Wishes and the electrical water pageant or whatever it is called. :cloud9:

All in all it was an absolutely perfect evening with lovely company. What a fun night!!

Sometimes a few hours just hanging out in the room, taking a nap, reading a book, straightening the room up, watching the rain, etc. is just a nice thing in the midst of all the go, go, go of a trip.

I'm with you on Contemporary - not my style, but it would be nice to stay there once for a night or two just for the proximity to MK, and seeing Wishes from your room would no doubt be awesome. ::yes::

Glad you guys had such a great evening. DIS friends are awesome!

Yummmm Cali Grill sounds delish! That flatbread was making my mouth water! :goodvibes Very cool that you go to see Wishes and the electical water pageant from the restaurant. That's an amazing view!

I skip the bats too, there's noooo way anyone would get me to go look at them. Even in TRs, I fly past those pictures haha

great tr
can't wait to hear more
making notes of things I want to do next trip - The Welsh Dragon made the list
LOL
also considering a solo trip - I am so much more into disney than the family, it might be fun

Thanks so much! :goodvibes I definitely recommend the Welsh Dragon. I'm planning to have another one next time I go and this time remember my souvenir cup!

Solo trips can be super fun. Just doing what you want to do when you want to do it. And I think WDW is among the safer places to visit - not that you don't have to be careful. I will say that meeting up with other DIS'ers makes the trip even better!

I just love this TR! I cannot wait to try Cali Grill! My DFi and I will be eating there on our wedding night! I hope that I planned out ADR correctly for Wishes. Our ADR is for 720 with Wishes at 8. I think it will be close, but as long as we have access to the Obervation deck, I'll be happy. :goodvibes

Thank you so much!! CG on your wedding night. :cloud9: That sounds so romantic and perfect! I think you'll be fine with what you have planned in terms of timing!

Oh what great memories this update brought back to me!!!! We had such a great dinner I loved loved loved our meal together!! It was so yummy!!! I believe that is the chocolate cake with the salted caramel ice cream!! I wish we were eating there right now tonight....oh those flatbreads were so GOOD!!!

Great update C!! I can't wait for the next one!!!

Thanks Jen. I loved our dinner too. SO yummy.

Oh, I want some of that polenta.....NOW. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Jen looks adorable for her Birthday. :cutie:

Someone famous, eh?

It was good. YUM-O! Thinking CG might be a must visit for every trip.

Great fun to read!!! Man California Grille is the best! I can't wait for my December dinner there! We went in June (date night) but this time it will be with DBIL and the kids... That tenderloin and polenta is my favorite dish! :thumbsup2

Isn't CG your Christmas eve or Christmas day dinner? Well, whatever night you go you will LOVE it!! I am so looking forward to your Dec trip!! :yay:

Great update C!!

My dinner picture is MIA. :rolleyes1 Or I may have begged Jen not to post it. But there will be pics of me from dinner the next night at Brown Derby!

Flat breads are fabulous. I wonder if you could go up to the bar and just order drinks and the flat bread?

You found the Dawa Bar, but you didn't get a drink??? :faint: I hope you fixed that later in the trip.

I know!! SO unlike me. I'll try to fix it next time but no, I didn't have a drink at Dawa this trip.

I am definitely a bat chicken... CREEPY!!

I'm going to have a hard time choosing between this and the sushi!

I'm SO getting this!!!!!

Yes she does :goodvibes

It's vacation... why choose??

Love reading about CG!!!

I just booked it for my B-day too! Can't wait!!!:goodvibes

Lookin' forward to the big reveal about your TR title in your next post!;) Sounds like it will be an interesting one!

Hurrah to CG for a b-day dinner. That sounds perfect!

great update C!!

Sounds like a lovely, albeit warm, day at AK!!!

Your dinner at Cali Grill looks so yummy!!! DH and I loved Cali Grill when we went in March!!!

It was definitely warm but there was more shade than I remembered in AK so it wasn't unbearable. Isn't CG the bestest? :)

Your Cali Grill dinner looked really good! So glad you got to enjoy Jen's birthday and have such a nice meal!

Thanks. Me too! So many good meals but this was one of my faves!

Cali Grill is officially on my list for July, and perhaps my birthday meal. It looks delicious!
What time do you suggest in order to see Wishes?

Jen looks just adorable and quite happy!

Lucky you! I think maybe our ADR was 7-ish and Wishes was at 8? But we were just on drinks and maybe the flatbreads when the show started (I think). Seems like they go to a lot of trouble to try to time things well. The lights dim and everyone's attention focuses outside for the big show.

You'll have to wait for me to catch up to see her pic and yes there is one LOL and she looks fabulous!!!!! I'm going to update tomorrow but that was going to be Rose N Crown so I might have to do two LOL!!!

Uh-oh... do I need to threaten you with bodily harm? ;)

I'm really enjoying your TR! :goodvibes

Loved your pictures of the Ditch. :lmao: I really must try it the next time I go. I am a huge fan of tequila. :rolleyes1

Thanks so much. I'm glad you're enjoying it. Yes, please do visit the ditch. Just beware that it is tough to leave.

You are right, MeMom. A break in the midst of the madness can be just what the Dr. ordered. And I'm not sure what it is but any magazine or book, any tv show, anything is always better when done on Disney property!!! Even laundry! :lmao:

Yummmm Cali Grill sounds delish! That flatbread was making my mouth water! :goodvibes Very cool that you go to see Wishes and the electical water pageant from the restaurant. That's an amazing view!

I skip the bats too, there's noooo way anyone would get me to go look at them. Even in TRs, I fly past those pictures haha

Another bat chicken. Excellent! :thumbsup2 Definitely try the flatbreads next time you visit CG!

We interrupt this TR to bring you news of a December trip! Yep, I decided that I just cannot miss an opportunity to see Marty Sklar speak. And another TSM party doesn't hurt either. :rolleyes1

Yacht & Beach Club is booked (at least with the discount I booked under) so I'll be sticking with the Wilderness Lodge which should be nice and Christmasy. I've never stayed there and know nothing about it... HELP!!

What do I need to know? What shouldn't I miss? How do you feel about the restaurants there?

Tentative plans:

Thursday - arrive (big plans, eh? :lmao:). Maybe lunch at the Plaza? Dinner in Epcot?

Friday - Marty Sklar seminar 9am - noon. Lunch at San Angel Inn with a likely stop at the tequila bar. :rolleyes1 PM- shopping around WS.

Saturday- ?? TSM party is this evening. Maybe a DHS day with lunch at Brown Derby?

Sunday - home. Boo.

I tried to see if I could book Candlelight Processional package with Andy Garcia (love him) but booked for all the restaurants I'd consider. Maybe I'll try again. Or if not maybe I'll just hang out on the promenade and listen.

OMG Christine!!! What fantastic news!!!

You are the Disney Vacation Queen this year!!!:goodvibes

Woo hoo for the December trip!!! I can't wait for you to go, Christine! I need some Christmas around WDW pics!!!

Oh, even if you can't get into the CP, you have to stand and listen to Andy Garcia for me!!! Love, love, love him!!! :lovestruc

WOO HOO!!

:yay: :dance3: :yay:

I am so excited for you!!

You are going to love Wilderness Lodge. You can request free turn down service, I totally forget to do that when we stayed but have heard good things about it. :thumbsup2

Take the boat to MK. You have too. It's a LL rule.

Are you serious??!! OMGoodness!!!! WOWSERS!!!! HOW EXCITING!!!! :yay::yay::yay:
I was all ready to send you a Christmas care package!!!! (Well I still will.... :rolleyes1) BUT YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay:

I can't wait to hear your plans... The spur of the moment trips are fun... HA! Having just done this in October myself!!!

Great news! Oh, and I LOVE  Wilderness Lodge... what a great location for the holidays!!! YES, take LL's advice, the boat is a must!!! I seem to recall something about busses, though, going from WL to the Cabins or something like that... check on this, I could be wrong, but I think I read that some where....

WL has two nice restaurants! Artist's Point is lovely, I didn't like the salmon (too dry) but the rest of our meal was great. It is a pretty place. I LOVE WCC! Bottomless Milkshake and dessert that is gargantuan! I had some sort of carmel apple thing... very very good! AND I like BBQ, so it was just up my alley... The QS place is good, the resort "grocery" spot is really nice! They have two gift shop areas. I hear it is the best place for Christmas decorations...

So who are you going to meet and what are you going to see? Andy Garcia, yeah, I can see that being a great thing! I only wish you were not going SO soon, b/c of course a week later we get there!!! :guilty:

Ah well, you can scope it all out for us!!!! :goodvibes
