In normal life I never have Ice Cream - the UK is pretty rubbish when it comes to dairy free stuff.

But I have this dream of going to beaches and cream and being able to have a dairy free No Way Jose, or similar.

Where have you found amazing dairy free ice cream on property?

The following places carry dairy free/vegan ice cream (Tofutti soy ice cream and Rice Dream rice ice cream) according to what Special Diets told me within the last month.

Magic Kingdom: Plaza Ice Cream Parlor & The Cone Shop
Epcot: Fountain View & Sunshine Seasons
Animal Kingdom: Dino Bites
Hollywood Studios: Hollywood Scoops

I believe that Beaches and Cream carries dairy free ice cream but I've never checked it out because most of the toppings if not all wouldn't be safe for my multiple allergy kids so it would be like taunting them to go there. Contact Special Diets to get the most accurate answer.

TS locations that are owned by Disney pretty much all have at least one of these as well. Some of the non-Disney ones do as well but I don't know which ones (we don't eat at non-Disney owned restaurants). Some TS locations also carry fruity sorbets that are lactose free.

Your resort (if you're staying at a WDW resort) will also carry dairy free ice cream.

If lactose is your only concern then Dole Whips are lactose free. They do have other components of milk but no lactose.

There are also several frozen treats at the ice cream carts all over the place that are lactose free. These include Itzkadoozie popsicles, frozen strawberry bars, pineapple bars and frozen bananas. These aren't all milk free but they are lactose free (pineapple bars may have cross contamination from a shared line for producing regular ice cream at the Dole factory though they do clean the line between runs and bananas contain whey I believe).

Thank you for such a detailed reply!

Luckily I am only lactose intolerant, and can get away with a small amount of cheese (eg on a burger) or milk (eg in tea or coffee) so I don't have to be super careful.

I'll definitely check out the places you have mentioned.

Do you have "Lactaid" type pills over there? They have what you need to digest the lactose sugar.

I am horribly Lactose Intolerant as is my daughter but I keep these on hand at all times and we just take them as we dig into our ice cream sundaes. We do take a few more than the label recommends if it is a big sundae but the dr said that isn't a problem.

I am lactose intolerant and sometimes I forgot the Lactaid Pills back at the hotel.....Almost every restaurant in and on Disney property had tofutti icecream (and would make it into a sundae) for dessert, carried Silk Soy Milk and had lactose free rolls. We had it at Cinderella's Table, Auskerhaus, Coral Reef, Garden Grill, 1900 Park Fare, Aloha Dinner, Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace....just ask and they will get it for you :) (My 6 yr old daughter who is not lactose intolerant like me, actually prefers the soy products.);)

Thanks everyone. :)

We can't easily get lactase here, but I do keep stocked up on Lactaid chewables when my parents or I visit the States, which is luckily quite frequently.

I still find though that even if I have the lactaid lots of dairy jsut doens't feel right in my stomach, just feels heavy and horrible and so I try to avoid it, especially in hot weather.

Glad to hear I don't need to warn in advance as I don't want to make a chef come out etc. Just when I get to dessert I'll ask for dairy free ice cream and make sure they konw I'm ok with a little lactose, just not lots of scoops of it.

I forgot Tony's Town Square had it too!

When you ask, as we did for cereal in the morning or for my morning tea, you will get the panicked server ask "Is there an allergy? Shall I get the chef?" I just politely replied my daughter likes the soy based products or I was lactose intolerant.

FY-the scrambled eggs are made with a milk based powder!!

Thank you. :) This is exactly the situation I'm worried about, I don't want to have had burger with a slice of dairy cheese in, and then make someone think I can't have dairy and cause a panic!

I think I'll just start my dessert order with "I can't have a lot of dairy...." then people should know it's nothing too serious.

They made me the most amazing dairy free sundae I have ever ever had. It was tofutti with peanut butter sauce, marshmallow sauce, and choclate syrup. I was in heaven b/c I can never eat dairy (I am severely lactose intolerant. A hershey kiss makes my tummy rumble).

On property I had Tofutti on Main street. If you order tofutti, they will insist on a manager scooping it and will treat it as an allergy.

Dole whips are also lactose free and so yummy!
