We are visiting the week of October 1st. We have young children and weren't planning on doing the Halloween Party.
So disappointed at the lack of parades, especially during the day. We have Paint the Night, which hopefully we will get to see, but at 8:50pm, is quite late.
I do see they have Dia de los Muertos, at Disneyland. What is that exactly, is it just decorations?

Dia de los Muertos is composed of decorations/displays set-up in Frontierland. There is also the "Celebration of Coco" over in DCA.

In terms of entertainment, DLR posts their operating calendar approximately 45-days in advance, but it's not always complete in terms of entertainment. The Pixar Play Parade is on the calendar through September 30th, which is past the end of Pixar Fest, so there is a chance that it'll be presented in October. There is often a delay in posting the entertainment information when new months start or seasons change (they're may be trying to decide whether to present it or when to present it or how often to present it).

I took a look at the most recent park hours and they don't show Fantasmic on weekends either but they've been booking dining packages so I assume that there's entertainment that just hasn't been added yet.

PTN is almost always that late no matter the time of year so long as the park is open till 9pm. I know it’s at 7:45pm on the 8pm closing days.
