Lacey & Keith's 10/24/11 Wishes Wedding! ***honeymoon, day 4...updated 6/18***

I have been going back and forth with trying to decide if I should spend money on decorating for the (surprise) dessert party on the night of the wedding. We will be watching Illuminations from UK upper (still a little bummed that UK lower is booked already...) which has a few tables that are already there. On a whim, I decided to email my planner and see if I could re-use my reception centerpieces (square glass vase filled with hot pink gerber daisies) for the dessert party, and she said yes! I am THRILLED because this will save me from trying to squeeze more out of my budget. :yay: Still thinking I might purchase some glowsticks for the kiddos (and some of the grownups! :goodvibes)...

Great news about the centerpieces! I say definitely go for the glow sticks! Glow necklaces are always a hit and you can find them for cheap at a dollar store, usually.

It has occurred to me that I haven't written at all about my bachelorette party and shower! Silly me! :confused3

Although we are getting married in October, I decided that I wanted to have my bachelorette party in the summer because I wanted a fun beach day with my girls. I am not one of those girls who enjoys getting all dressed up just to go to a club and have slimy guys try to me up. So instead, a few of us will get up early one Saturday in July, and drive to Misquamicut beach in Westerly, RI (about an hour away from me) and spend the day on the beach! There is a fun little restaurant right on the beach that has a bar and music that would be perfect for some drinks and lunch! :yay: I am not sure if it's unusual for the bride-to-be to "plan" her own bachelorette party, but I am kind of, ahem, a control freak and my MOH said it was ok!!! :dance3:

Now, on to the "shower". I have put "shower" in quotations because I am not having a typical bridal shower. DF and I have been living together in our house for the past couple of years. Since I DO NOT need any more kitchen gadgets or towels, I did not want to have a typical shower. My MOH (who has been my rock through all of this planning) suggested that the entire wedding party throw us a jack-and-jill shower on Saturday, July 30th. We have decided to register for our honeymoon (we will probably use travelersjoy as well as they Disney honeymoon registry because of all the website glitches with Disney). But here comes the best part...we are having this party at a brewery/orchard in my hometown! It is seriously one of my favorite places on earth (after the World, of course! ) and DF is THRILLED that he gets to drink awesome beer with the guys!!! :woohoo:

I just wanted to say--- Misquamacut?!?! Gasp! That was my stomping ground when I was little!!! I love that beach!!!

Umm..I pretty much planned my own bachelorette party and bridal shower. I told my mom and matron of honor exactly what I wanted and they set it all up :rotfl:

I bought this bag as well...I thought it would be perfect for trick-or-treating at MNSSHP! I am going as Alice (and DF will be the Mad Hatter...he refuses to trick-or-treat though...I guess that means I will have to share my candy?!?!?)

Misquamicut is amazing! It's about 10 minutes away from me and I basically grew up at that beach. That will be such a fun way to spend the day with your maids!

Happy Memorial Day! Just a few little updates today...

First off, look what came in the mail the other day!!! DF thinks we should frame it and hang it on the wall (and I totally agree!).

Also, my wonderful friend, who is also one of our groomsmen, has offered to design our save-the-dates and invitations for the at-home reception. He and I have been friends practically forever so he designed these with me in mind! :goodvibes The picture doesn't do it justice, but this is the STD...

The stripe looks red in the picture, but it's actually hot pink. I am in LOVE with them. I will be sure to post pics of the invitations as well when I get them! :dance3:

I decided to have a go at making some fancy flip flops to wear during the reception when my feet started to hurt. I am pleased to announce that I did these while watching a few episodes of The Office!

Now I just have to resist wearing them for the next 4 1/2 months... :rolleyes1
