Labor Day Weekend

We called today to book a room for Sept. 3 - 7. Last minute, I know but we suddenly decided to take a third trip and catch the MNSSHP on Sept. 4. I didn't expect there to be any availability, but we had our pick of resorts, except BLT. Anyone have any idea why there's so much availibility over Labor Day weekend? Thanks!

Prior to our eldest 2 kids starting college & NYC Dept of Ed pushing up elementary school start date to day after Labor Day we'd often be at WDW over Labor Day weekend & couple days after. It was our favorite time to travel to WDW because even on Labor Day weekend itself crowds seemed very light; CMs would comment it is because most colleges are back in session and in many parts of country particularly in south elementary & secondary schools go back by third week of August.
