My husband and I went to Disney World to celebrate my birthday (August 30) together. We left the kids at home (we have 4), so one of my priorities was to eat at some of these restaurants I've read so much about...without the distractions of children. We had wonderful meals everywhere, and I think I've gained 5 pounds with all the food we consumed! We made several PS's before we left and my very helpful CM made sure to notate on each one that it was my birthday. Here is where we ate:

*Bomas (Friday, August 29: DINNER) I really wanted to eat here without our kids, because I knew they would not enjoy experiencing something so different. I was not dissappointed! Our server was Paul and did a very nice job. Everything was unique and interesting and I tried a bit of almost all of it. My absolute favorite was the Carrot Soup....mmmmm! I managed to try many of the desserts and really enjoyed the Zebra Domes. I was stuffed when our server brought our a special birthday cupcake sprinkled with Mickey confetti and gummy bears and a nice Birthday card from Boma, signed by some of the Cast Members. It was a very nice ending to a great meal! Little did I know that this was only the tip of the iceberg....

*Crystal Palace (Saturday, August 30: BREAKFAST) Our PS was for 8:05, which got us into MK early. It was so much fun walking down Main Street which was practically empty! Once we were seated, our server Karen brought us our drinks and we started on the buffet. Oh my goodness! Both my husband and I agreed that this was the BEST breakfast buffet we have ever eaten. We will definitely bring our children back here when we return in December. Our favorites were the Puffed French Toast and the cheesy hashbrowns. Also good was the breakfast pizza and, well....everything! When we returned to our table after visiting the buffet the first time, we found Mickey shaped confetti and curling ribbon on our table. After we finished, our server brought out another cupcake with sprinkles and made me lead the parade around the dinning area with Eyeore! I also got a card signed by the characters. This definitely added some magic to my birthday!

*Le Cellier (Saturday, August 30: LUNCH) Our Priority Seating was for 2pm, and we were seated right away. This was our best meal, hands down and most of it was due to our wonderful server Katherine...she was fabulous!! My husband had the French Dip with grilled mushrooms and I had the Cheddar Cheese Soup. We both were eating light, because we were planning on dinning for dinner around 7. The French Dip was good, but the Cheddar Cheese Soup was fantastic! It was excellent with the pretzel breadsticks dipped in it. When we were finished, Katherine brought out a fabulous slice of chocolate cake (it was huge, with four layers) and "Happy Birthday from Katherine" written in dark chocolate around the edge. Katherine was the kind of server that saw to our every need, but never hovered over us. She got a healthy tip!

*Cape May (Saturday, August 30: DINNER) This place is popular! As we were checking in, I overheard the CM at the front desk tell another guest that there were no seatings available without a reservation. Food was good all around. Our server brought out yet another birthday cupcake, but this one was chocolate with a mousse in the middle....it was yummy! The server announced that we were celebrating my 21st birthday :) Boy, I LIKED her!

*Garden Grill (Sunday, August 31: LUNCH) Our PS was for 12:20 and we were seated quickly. I'm not sure what I expected, but found the view to be limited. The rotation of the restaurant bothered my stomache at first, but I got used to it after awhile. My husband and I really enjoyed the food here...it was much more our "style". The bread and honey butter was very tasty, as were the mashed potatoes, veggies, and the cornbread stuffing. I loved the chicken and my husband really enjoyed the beef. When we were finished, Luis, our server, brought out an entire mini cake (way too big for the two of us to finish) and the staff and guests sang a unique Happy Birthday song to me. My husband and I each cut ourselves a piece of cake and gave the rest to the family next to us, who had several children. This cake was delicious! Very light and fluffy, not too filling at all, with a whipped topping.

*O'hana's (Sunday, August 31: DINNER) Our PS was for 5pm and we had one of the best tables in the restauraunt, with a great view of the Magic Kingdom. I was a little leary of eating here after reading some less than glowing reviews, but we found the food to be quite good. The appitizers they bring out were a nice variety of flavors. The turkey was very tasty and the other meat (was it beef?) was very tender. The tiger shrimp was a little chewy, but had a good flavor. The dipping sauces were sweet, but I still enjoyed a little bit on my meats. The pineapple with caramel dipping sauce was to die for! And, as usual, the birthday cupcake accompanied the end of the meal. I talked our server Stephanie into foregoing the obligitory Happy Birthday song....I'd already had my fair share of celebrating!

Sorry this was so long.....t was quite a treat for my husband and I to sit down and enjoy so many meals, and we enjoyed each and every one of them! In December, we plan to hit some even different dining experiences with our kiddos ;) .

Wow!!!! I'm salivating. Glad you had such a great time and such good meals. You ate at some of our favorite places and some that we haven't been to in a few years, which makes me want to go back again soon.

Saturday was my birthday, too... I was at the California Grill. The chocolate lava cake came with a little chocolate birthday card!!

Wonderful reviews ~ Thanx for sharing!!!!

Thanks for sharing your delightful dining experiences. This trip I am taking my boys DS5 and DS8 without DH and I will definitely not be doing this kind of dining, but I'm having fun imagining it. Thanks again.

Wow, your birthday lasted 3 days? ;) lol!

Everything sounds great! Thanks for sharing!

First Happy belated birthday. That sounds like a fun trip. How old are your kids? I wish I could do that and spend a few days alone with DH.

My kiddos are 10, 8, 7, and 3 (the first 3 are all about 18 months apart). Because there were so many close together, we didn't do anything without them for a very long time. We are usually home-bodies, and rarely go out for even an evening alone. However, they are old enough now to help-out with a sitter and I think my husband and I will attempt to do more things alone. After all, we'll be alone after they are grown and gone, won't we? This was such wonderful weekend and made us realize how much we need this time together!
