I keep hearing commercials on the radio for this, a local girl here says she has lost 72 lbs in 9 months. Is this a WOE or just the latest "thing"? Anyone know?

I did LA Weight loss a couple years ago...the weight came off fine.

Gained it all back and then some. Tried the plan again about six months ago...while hubby was on Atkins...he was eating great and losing weight...I was eating flavorless food and not losing near as much as him.

He convinced me to go on Atkins..and now we are both losing like crazy, feeling very good health wise and eating great meals/snacks.

The atkins set of three books to get started..approx. $30
LA weight loss to start for me well over $700 (they charge by the amount of weight you need to lose)

Eating the LA weight loss way for the rest of my life...couldn't do it. Eating the atkins way for the rest of my life...very easy...even when we go out to eat or take trips. Also, great reduction in pms since I have been on atkins.

Now, I am not saying that one is better than the other...just giving you my experience.

Good luck to you in whatever plan you choose.

Thanks for the reply webray. Tigger a WOE is a Way of Eating.

I am currently on Atkins, and I do love the foods that I am allowed to eat. I just don't know if I CAN do it for life, as I really miss my pastas, breads and especially rice. I am sticking with Atkins for right now however because it is working, and partially because I am afraid to gain back the 10 lbs I have lost since starting. I also get a little disheartened to hear some people lose in 3 weeks what it hs taken me almost 10 weeks to do. I have even stopped weighing myself because it almost makes me want to give up. When you are looking at trying to lose almost 100 lbs, well 10 lbs seems like a small drop in the bucket KWIM?:worried: So I am chug chugging along, because when I started this journey I promised myself that I would commit for one year! :p

princess...

You don't give up pasta and breads for life...in fact...atkins has bread you can use during induction...it is pretty good, we have toasted it, and eaten it warm from the oven. There are also hamburger and hot dog buns you can use in induction. Are you following the atkins book?

I haven't tried to track down any lo carb pastas yet, as I am still in induction. I hear there are some great ones and some really bad ones...lol. Trial and error where that goes.

We found the best 3 carb loaf of bread at our local Whole Foods market the other day...3 carbs is what a slice of the atkins bread has in it also.

You have to remember, it is not that you are never going to eat your favorite pastas and breads again. I certainly couldn't go without pasta, but I have so much weight to lose yet...50 pounds..so I don't even miss them right now, I am too excited to see the weight loss results.

Good luck to you!

I decided to do weight watchers because I could stay on it for life. I like WW because it is real food, very balanced, and I am learning portion size and what I can and cannot eat regularly. Don't get me wrong I am sure there will be a splurge or two every once in awhile, but not on a daily basis.

WW suggests focusing on a smaller goal. Do not focus on 100 pounds to loose. They suggest loosing 10% of your weight. Then set another goal once you have reached the first goal.

Good luck!
