Was thinking about taking the Red Line to the Blue Line to the Green Line :smooth: in order to get from Universal Studios (prob staying in the Hilton Universal) to LAX on a Tuesday morning, rush hour.

We were gonna aim for arriving in LAX around 9am... so that's smack dab in the middle of rush hour.

I'm worried about traffic being bad, so started researching mass transit train alternatives. I can't help it, being from NYC, I would much rather take a train to the airport during rush hour than risk being stuck in a cab/shuttle in traffic.

But, I'm not familiar with L.A.'s Metro train system, so wanted to pose this question to those of you locals who have had experience taking them: during rush hour, do the Metro trains also get delayed or held up? Am I right in thinking that they would be least susceptible to rush hour traffic?

I know it's a transfer headache, but we won't have more than 1 rolling suitcase each, so DBF and I are okay w/ 3 legs of train rides plus 1 airport G shuttle to get to the terminal.

one thing's for sure....it's much safer during rush hours. it's always a safer feeling to be surrounded by many working people than it is in an empty car. Metro rail system timetable is pretty much accurate. they allow for rush hour times so to get a better idea of travelling timewise, you should check their site...i think it's metro.net

if you go to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles to get on the Red Line to Universal Studios Hollywood, you should be okay during rush hour. The Red Line runs under ground while the Blue line is above ground.
