Has anyone done the Premier Movie Sites tour at Kualoa? I just reserved spots for my family in August. My girls are 11 and 9, and are huge Jurassic Park fans! Haven't found any reviews online of this extended tour.

And has anyone done the Hawaii Nautical excursion through Aulani? Or have you booked on your own? I'd like to take a snorkeling trip and see wild dolphins.

TIA!

Following, also curious on the Kualoa Ranch reviews. We're booking one of the movie sites tours for our trip in September, and have read good reviews so far!

Hello!

I've done the movie tour. I went on it back in 2012 and it was great! I loved it so much and talked about it so much that when my soon-to-be husband and I planned our honeymoon, he said he wanted to go on it (he wasn't on the trip in 2012). You see a lot of great things on the tour and they generally have signs showing what was filmed in those specific locations but it's also just beautiful to see the nature of Hawaii. I don't have pictures to post now because I'm at work, but I can tell you that I fully recommend it. They let you get off the bus you're on and take pictures of the specific areas, so @micheleq if your girls love Jurassic park, they'll be able to get off the bus and take a picture with the fallen tree just like Lex and Tim! When I was on it on my last trip, they gave us "insider information" that they were going to be filming the next Hunger Games movie at the ranch. They had just finalized the plans with the production company and filming was to start soon.

All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this tour and I'm so excited to go on it again!

Does anyone know how the Premier Movie sites tour compares to the sort of movie sites exposure you get on the ATV tour? We really want to see Jurassic Park stuff but think riding on an ATV would be more fun than getting in and out of a van.

Thank you! It looks like such a beautiful location to begin with, the movie and tv stops are a bonus. I think we will enjoy the tour (I was a Lost watchers as well) and the natural beauty all around us.

I am wondering the same thing! We were planning to go out on the ATVs but now I just watched the little video clip of the PREMIER Movies sites tour (not the regular one) and I see you do go right in to the Indominus Rex pen from Jurassic World plus other locations from the newer movie. My son and I watch that movie over and over and this would be amazing for us to see. If it were just me and the kids (older teens) I know we would probably just do the movie tour but hubby LOVES ATV riding and does it here at home so he would be the swing vote. Oh man, first world problems! Anyone know exactly what you see on the ATV tour?

I am just reading some reviews on Trip Advisor and it sure seems like the Premier Movie tour is a new, stand alone excursion and not available for the atvs. I think I will shoot them and email and see what they say, I will post back

No way I'm missing a chance to go in the Indominus Rex Pen! Sounds like on the other movie tour you just visit the fallen log spot from Jurassic Park. I want to see that pen! :-)

I just booked the premier movie tour. When I am there at the end of September, it's only offered once a day at 9am. It was $125/adult and it's 2 and a half hours long. I think the standard movie tour is only 90 minutes long.

LOL-that is exactly what I was thinking!!!! That part in the movie where they realize it can camouflage, makes my heart skip a beat every time!!!

Me too! Lol!

My kids are too young for the ATVs and zip lining there (we are zip lining at Climb Works instead), and this tour sounded really immersive so we're all excited.

We zip lined at Climb Works yesterday!!! So far it's our favorite part of the trip!!! So much fun! (My girls are 11 and 9).

We booked the Hawaii Nautical catamaran tour through sav on tours. Saved us some $$ over booking with Disney or with Hawaii Nautical directly. It was a great trip!

Thanks! That's what I was thinking of doing too.

Same ages as my girls! Did they love it? Did they have to ride tandem? I'm personally petrified of heights but ready to brave it!

They loved it!!! We are at the airport now heading home. They said it was their favorite part of the trip. They had to ride tandem on two of the lines that were pretty long. And they loved that. I rode next to them and got some great shots and video with my GoPro.
Also, if you take a GoPro make sure you bring the attachment pieces to put on the helmet. I didn't know to do that and had to hold mine on my wrist.
Have fun!!! Oh, and the earlier tour is best. We went at 8 and finished before it got too hot or rainy. It's on the rainy side of the island.

ClimbWorks Zip line...

We did it last week w 2 skinny girls; They tandemed together on 3 lines and still had a blast. The tandems are spaced a bit so they have good line of sight, and secured with a short line. Front to back like a train. Doesn't stink for the back person. They rode single on the remaining 6 with no issue each on 5 of the 6. Each had to be rescued once (means they fall short of the end and roll back to the dip), the guide then Spider-Mans upside down and drags them in. One of the adults needed rescue too as did two other kids. It was a minimal delay and our group was great, easy going, and supportive so it was no sweat. I say that bc I read a review once where someone was annoyed at a child needing to be rescued more then once. It was a windy day that likely contributed to the slowdown on 2 lines (direct heading in).

It was a great day even though it was raining at the end. Best part of the trip for the kids. Mildly educational too. They have teaching stations at each line and the views are wonderful and make the waits between riders no issue.

It took about 1.5 hours to get there with some road construction up north with closed lanes. This was near Teds Bakery. You need to arrive at least 20 minutes before to sign electronic waivers and get your gear.

Movies Premier...

Took the ATV ride instead of the air conditioned Premier experience. Loved the ATV. Chose the 2 hour excursion. We hit all the same movie sites as the bus tours and had a great guide. Would definitely recommend it if you are doing anything else on the windward side or nearby east part of the north shore.

Just back from Aulani. We took the Kualoa Premier Movie Sites tour on Sun, 10 July with tour guide, Stephanie. We picked Sunday since the traffic would be very light drivng from Ko Olina area to Kualoa

Your girls will love this tour. You get to go inside the Indominus Rex Pen and see the scratch marks on the walls. You'll go into the observation area. You'll also see where the Gyrosphere ticket area was filmed. So many great photo ops too. Unlike the other tours, you'll get out of the air conditioned van and walk around these areas. If you're a LOST fan, you'll see the submarine and other areas. I attached a quick iPhone pic of the Jurassic World entrance to the paddock. Took lots of other photos but haven't downloaded them yet.

Stephanie provided great movie info during the tour. It was clear that she loves talking movies and Hawaii. Overall this was an outstanding tour!

Thanks for the great review! Sounds like a fun tour. I was a Lost fan as well, so it will be interesting to see all those sites. We'll be there in three weeks

we went on the the regular movie tour since we had done the full day twice before on different trips and we saw they had props from the new king kong movie.... they had a giant skull and bones available....of course they couldn't exactly say it was the new movie just dance around and let us guess until we got it right....LOL!
NO MATTER which one you choose its a pretty cool place.....waiting for my kids to be old enough for the ATV and horses
