Question:

I understand that you can take charging rights off kids cards. Can you set up a charging limit to kids cards?

Having never done this yet, I am told that it is either all or nothing. I read where a poster (very good idea) let the kids think there was a limit, and told them what it was, and what would happen if they went over...

My son MAY have this privilege the next time, and that is exactly what I will be doing... :rotfl:

Mine were too young before to bother, I just kept their cards.

What I don't understand is why you have to fill out information in your cruise docs to list who is authorized to used your ship-board account, but then they hand you a fist full of KTTW cards, and everyone of them is pre-activated for charging. You have to revoke charging privleges by visiting guest services AFTER you get on board.

The last time we cruised, I overherd a cruiser next to me at guest services learning this the hard way. It was the first day on board about 2 o'clock (as in we are still at the doc in Port Canaveral). It appears that her son had figured out that he could use the KTTW card to get tokens in the game room. He then proceeded to "make some new friends" to the tune of $100 in game room charges.

I believe you do have to go to guest services to have the privelage taken off of a kttw card. When we cruised last year either my dh or myself carried dd's card most of the time so it really wasn't an issue. I did have the ability to charge taken off her card though. They did it electronically and then also punched a hole in it to make it more obvious that that card could not charge things. I think we then ended up attaching that to a hook at the end of her pin lanyard so she could carry the card to open our room.

I was told that it was all or nothing. That can be pretty scary. i had a friend who let their kids use it (It was in the park) the kids charged thousands. I think that a limit should be used

You have to go to guest services to turn off your child's card. There is no limit on the cards. When you turn off the kids cards, they punch a hole in the card. Some kids then wear them around their neck on their lanyard or with string. The hole tells the staff that the child can not charge anything.

We turned off our children's cards, but their was a glitch and it didn't happen. Our son "tried" his card at the arcard, even though we had told him it was turned off. When we found out about the charge, the staff apologized for the glitch. We were told that if he had gone to a staff member to charge, they would have seen the hole and known the card was "turned off."

There really is no need for a child to charge anything....everything is free except special drinks, stuff at the stores, and the arcade card.
