We'll be in a tent-only site. What is our charge limit for our KTTW cards? Is it still $500? And is the deal still that they won't charge our credit card until we hit the $500 limit? And if we don't hit that limit during our trip they won't charge our credit card until checkout?

Thanks

VP

I didnt know any of this.. anxiously awaiting a response..popcorn::

Since the Fort is classified as a "moderate" resort, the charging limit is $1000.

The charging limits are as follows:
$500 - Value
$1000 - Moderate
$1500 - Deluxe and DVC properties

Even when staying at the campsites, your KTTW works just like any other resort.

ok Im guessing I have miss the bus or something,

what does this KTTW (key to the world) card do, whats it for?

when I made my reservation I was not told anything about this, I do know my trip has to be paid for in full 45 days (or is it 60) prior to our arrival, so do I also have to drop a 1000 deposit on a card?:confused3

Noooo, no deposit at all.

The Key to the World Card is your Disney ID. It identifies you as a Disney resort guest. It is your hotel room key if you have a hotel room. When staying at the campground, it opens the gate to the parking lot, and it also opens the comfort station doors between midnight and 6am.

If you are on a package, your tickets may be on the KTTW card, your dining plan may be on your KTTW card.

This KTTW card can also be used as a charge card for purchases and food around WDW. You can "attach" a credit card to your account and any purchases you make can be charged back to the room. Then when your account reaches the above state limits, your credit card is automatically charged for that amount, then your KTTW "limit" starts over again.

You can also designate that your card is "not valid for charging" and then just use your own cash or credit cards around the "world".

I like using the room key for charging because it keeps my credit cards put away. If I lose or misplace the room key, it can be cancelled and replaced IMMEDIATELY. If I lose or misplace my credit card, it can take up to a week to be replaced and then there is the hassle of redoing automatic payments, and all the other hassles of replacing a credit card.

This also has the advantage of your credit card only being swiped once the entire time at the world instead of multiple times.

if you leave your credit card information when you check in you can use your kttw card as a charge back to your room. when they card reaches its max ( $1000 for the fort they will charge your cc that amount. if not they will charge cc at check out ( or you may pay cash)

They will charge your credit card as soon as it hits the limit and then you can start using your kttw card again. The limit is only a point to which your CC will be charged. If you do not reach the limit your CC will be chaged at check-out.

I don't know in all my research how I missed this fact! Cool flippin cool is that when your juggling 5 kids, whoohoo!

I use the room key for charging for the reasons Carol mentioned. However, in August 2009, I had my card denied twice when purchasing something at the Meadow Trading Post. I then had to go to the checkin desk to see what happened. In both cases, I had reached the $1,000 limit and had to request that it be charged to my CC. When I mentioned that this used to be automatic, the CM stated that you now had to request that it be charged back. I don't know if this was for security purposes or not, but it resulted in having to go to the front desk every 4 or 5 days to see how much was left on the card and if needed, have it charged back to the CC.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm hoping that was just some type of "trial" and is no longer the case.

Yeah, that has happened to us on occasion (usually at a Value resort, but usually a phone call by the CM right there at the register takes care of it.)
