Has anyone ever gone to one of the rocket launches at KSC (not the shuttle). There is a scheduled launch of an Atlas rocket on December 10, and I was wondering if it's worth the drive over there.

The rocket launches in general are indeed worth it. Of all the rocket launches, Atlas 5 translates into the furthest away viewing under most circumstances, so between Delta 2, Delta 4 and Atlas 5, the latter is going to be the 'least loud'.

Great photos BPCooper. Are you going to be over there this weekend for the Anniversary Space Expo and Airshow featuring the T-birds. Hoping the weather cooperates by the weekend. It was nasty over on the coast today.

They just extended the Shuttle Mission a day. It's now scheduled to return to KSC weather permitting in the pre-dawn hours on Weds.
