Kraken’s Catch quick question

Is it gimmick or an actual good menu item? I'm ex Navy and we are known, renowned, legend even at scarfing down Calamari at the drop of a hat. In fact there are stories about major bar brawls being halted in mid bottle toss by a quick order of the tentacled treat. My question is whether the Kraken's Catch is an actually a good dish or just a novelty?

I've had it on 2 separate occasions and thought it was great. They changed it from the initial offering. Now the octopus is chopped up so you don't see the tentacle reaching out for you.
