I just made a reservation for Kona, it was between that and GFC. My hubby wanted Kona, so of course he got his way. My question is, is Kona any good? What do you suggest on the menu?

One of our most favorite places in the World to eat...breakfast or dinner!

Steak was GREAT, bread was wonderful, service is good and desserts are YUMMY!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

It would be for dinner. The hubby is thinking about the ginger steak. What is the best dessert?

Yum yum yum! I could be happy just eating the sweet Hawaiian bread and Macademia Nut butter!

Couldn't agree more, that is all I would need. I love that butter and I don't even eat butter. :rotfl2:

I have had all three meals at Kona, they are all good. We always make it a point to eat at least one meal there when at Disney.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised. When they take you to your table they will walk you by plates with sample desserts on them so you can see what you would like. They all look good. Check out allears.net and you can see the menu.

We just made dinner reservations there. It will be our only TS- and I'm excited! All the talk about the bread and butter makes me

The duck pot sticker appetizerIMO is one of the best things I ate in our August trip. That stuff was YUMMY!!! I really enjoyed the pot stickers, the sauce on them and the salad. I wonder if I can get that to go or get it from the sushi bar? I'm not making an ADR there for our next trip but I'll be staying at Poly so it won't be out of the way. Yup, I really loved that stuff.

Great place. Always one if our favorites. The Kilauea torte is my favorite desert with the warm chocolate lava. Mmmmmm!!

Dh and I love Kona. In May we shared the sticky wings for the appetizer. That could have been a meal in itself. They even bought warm towels for our sticky fingers!!

Dh had the terriyaki steak and I had the ginger ribeye. Both great. We both didnt care for the broccolini that was served with it.

Also saw some of the sushi that was being served and it looked amazing.

For dessert dh and I both shared a banana creme brule. Next time, no sharing, we are both getting our own! We will be there again in Dec., cant wait!

Love!! Love!! Good for breakfast or dinner!! You will be happy with your decision!:goodvibes

I love Kona! We always go there at least twice on our trips - one of my favorite WDW restaurants.

I've had the sticky wings, filet, seafood chowder - all very, very good. I don't think you can go wrong there!

Our family loves Kona. Our suggestions are:

Lump crab cakes
Shrimp and Scallops
Teriyaki NY strip
Miso Mahi Mahi
Chocolate Fondue
Kilauea Torte
Kona Pressed Coffee

Kona Cafe is our favorite restaurant. We tried it for the first time in 2003 after deciding not to bother with Ohana anymore given the reviews it was receiving. Now we go to Kona Cafe every trip instead of Ohana.

Our choices are as follows for my family of four:
appetizers - pot stickers (preferred instead of sticky wings)
entrees - shrimp & scallops, Pan Asian noodles, Coconut almond chicken
(we liked all of the entrees that we tried listed above)
dessert - banana creme brulee and kilauea torte (four forks please!)

Yummm!:goodvibes

That bread and butter is :cloud9:!

My MIL is a huge bread and butter fan so when the in-laws went with us and had Kona we told our server that we'd need two breads from the get-go.

DH likes the Teriyaki-style New York Strip and I like the Pan Asian Noodles with chicken. And I don't think that you can go wrong with breakfast there either. We tend to have either a breakfast or dinner there each trip - sometimes both. :)

For those who have had it, what is the Coconut almond chicken served with? It sounds like a salad?

The salad is great - fresh greens with almonds, strawberries, pineapples and a vinaigrette dressing. Super light and fresh and a big serving.

DW and I ate there for the first time mid-Sept. because of all the positive reviews. Dang it was good. Yes it's not the best setting (kind of like a coffee shop in the lobby), but the food was some of the best we had our entire trip. I had the Tuna Oscar and it was fabulous, great flavor and texture. Wife had the Coconut Almond Chicken and loved it. I had the chocolate fondue for dessert and she had the lava cake thing and they were both fabulous. Tough decision with all the desserts on display for you to look at while you are waiting for your meal. Talking on the way home we decided that rest. was a must go to again when we head back to Dis. in a couple of years.

GFC is 100% better than Kona.....we love Kona for breakfast and lunch but not dinner.
