We are staying at POR, but I really want to eat at Kona for breakfast. The only day I can fit it in is on our HS day. Convenience wise, Cape May would be better, but would it REALLY be that far out of the way to go to Kona? Either way we would get a taxi to the BC or the Polynesian from POR.

Since you're taking a taxi either way, getting there isn't the difference. The bus from Poly to HS will probably take a bit longer than walking or boating from BC, so it will be more difficult to make rope drop, but if Kona is where you want to eat, I'd say it's worth the "sacrifice" of a later start at HS. Just plan your FP+ accordingly.

I know a lot of people love Kona but we find it just ok. We went to breakfast at Cape May for the first time in Dec and loved it! We will now try to eat there every trip even if not staying close. I would not waste the travel time all the way over to the Poly and then back to DHS when CM is so much better and it is a short walk or boat ride away.

Thank you for your input! Is there a particular item on the buffet that stands out over any other item? Are there any items available there that aren't available anywhere else? Or was the quality overall better there than any other buffet?

We found just the opposite. Last trip we ended up switching a couple breakfasts for Kona. It's got a good chill vibe open to wonderful light in the Poly Building. Ohana would be my first choice if youre not already doing that. We did Cape May for the first time and love Crystal Palace, Askershus, Character Bfasts but Cape May was our least favorite. The selections aren't awesome. The lay out is cramped. Its loud. Its not light. Perhaps if you're headed to HS try to RAPUNZEL bfast at Trattoria al Forno. (Sp?). Looks good- not buffet but something different. Either way, it will be great!

Do what you want! If you have to cab it to either one, who cares? It's a bus to HS from the Poly, or a bus (or boat) to HS from the BC. You may save a few minutes being closer to HS at Cape May, but not like anything crazy different like an hour, right? Kona is very good and I would kill to have the Loco Moco right now! Just be warned: you may have to eventually pony up and stay at the Polynesian after seeing it and spending some time there!

We found it had a lot of items including crepes which we have not seen anywhere else.

Kona Cafe is worth the trip if you haven't been. We went on a whim last trip and it was surprisingly our favorite breakfast the entire trip! DH is requesting tonga toast and pancakes for our first breakfast next trip.

Thank you all!

I'm leaning towards Kona at the moment...I know it's a little bit out of the way, but I would hate to regret our meal just to save a few minutes! I have TH booked another day, so we will have that character meal at least, and I know that we love TH.

7:30 breakfast at Kona leaves plenty of time to catch a bus to HS for a 9:00 rope drop. You don't even have to get a taxi, if you're at the bus stop to magic kingdom at 6:30!
