We have dining reservations at Kona and I'm starting to rethink it. Is it children friendly???? Mine are 4 and 2 and not sure they will like it. What do you think?

Sorry I can't answer you but I'm just subbing to the thread to hear what people have to say. We have a reservation there for 4 and 7 year old girls for lunch and we are considering just doing captain cooks instead (just to see resort on our MK day) and using the TS for breakfast our last day.

It is very kids friendly. It has a pretty relaxed atmosphere and is pretty casual. We have dined there twice, and both times really like it. The only thing we didn't like is the fact that it is located just of the hallway and it gets a lot of overflow of people waiting for dinner at Ohana, and it can get pretty busy there. The restaurant itself is wonderful and kids are welcomed.:)

My girls enjoyed it :) Especially the make-your-own sundae dessert :rotfl:

My then 5 yr old DD really loved eating her cheeseburger with chopsticks after I cut it up for her :rolleyes1 (the chopsticks came alongside my meal)....

The food was awesome (at least the adult entrees).... the child menu is typical of most other TS restaurants in WDW...

IMO, it is kid friendly in that they are used to parties with children and the atmosphere is somewhat casual. That said, to a kid, this is about as exciting as any other restaurant at home. The adults in our party enjoyed it and the kids were reasonably well behaved  .

One thing is they have a "show kitchen" where they make the desserts.

We have mixed reviews when it comes to Kona, but yes, it is kid friendly, but one thing that has been consistent for us is that it is slow, slow, slow, so bring something to entertain your kids with while you are waitling....just our experience...desserts are fabulous!

Very kid friendly. This is a casual restaurant that is a bit noisy so children;s excited voices are absorbed..

Thanks everybody. I think this restaurant is going to be our "maybe" during the trip. I heard it is not too hard to get a reservation there at an "off time" which is why I won't feel too bad about cancelling it that morning if we decide not to do lunch there. This is on our last MK day and just an excuse to see the poly. We don't really want to pay OOP for any TS meals since we got the dining plan so if we skip that it opens us up to either Ohana character breakfast or Boma breakfast buffet on our last day.

It sounds good but at this point doesn't sound like an absolute must do with my kids.

Thanks again,

Debbie

We started dining at Kona Cafe when my kids were 4 and 1. We have gone quite a few times since then and now at 11 & 8, it has always been one of their favorites. :thumbsup2

We go at least once every trip. Our 1 and just turned 3 year old went last May and were fine. We LOVE the food and the service is always amazing for us. We actually compare the other restaurants lack of service to Konas amazing service. They just always go out of their way for us. Over the years I would say we have eaten there 10 times. Never have we been disapointed.

Well I made reservations there for breakfast one Saturday during our trip so I hope it's kid friendly. :) I figure every (almost) Disney restaurant will be kid friendly..it's Disney! I figure DD will act just like she does in current restaurants at home. She's been out to eat pretty often.
