Kona Cafe Tonga Toast Update?

So I remember this post, where the Tonga toast was changed and created an up roar. Then I came across this Article from 2016. So I guess it was solved?

So for people who have been recently, is the Tonga Toast still a good choice? It's been about 3 years since I've been so I don't have a huge remembrance of the bread, but my wife does, and I want to prepare her for our visit in May.

And yes, I know how silly it sounds to worry about French Toast while on vacation.

I had the tonga toast once and wasn't overwhelmed by it. I personally prefer basic french toast with jelly.

I agree with your memory. I haven't seen a recent review.

I had it before the supposed change when it was sourdough and didn't like it then - - didn't know it changed but can't imagine any change in bread will make that much of a difference. Reminds me of dole whip - as I don't like that either yet seems very popular

One of my all time favorite breakfasts. I am forgetting exactly WHEN the change happened, but I last ate there in May 2016 which I BELIEVE was after the change and they had gone back to the original (I was worried it'd be bad). (It was delicious). We skipped it in December, but are heading back in June.

We just made a breakfast ADR at Kona and the tonga toast sounded soooo yummy, I won't be able to resist trying it. I'm hopeful it's as good as it sounds!

I had it last April for the first time and wasn't impressed. The bread was dry, it wasn't very hot no less warm, and the banana wasn't through the whole thing. Yuk!

I had it in Sept 2016 and really enjoyed it. It was my first time ever having it, though, so I'm not sure if that was the changed recipe or not.
