We're having breakfast at Kona on our next trip and I've been looking at the menu for things to order. We're pretty much set on the Tonga Toast and the Big Kahuna Plate, the Tonga Toast has been my favorite breakfast item since I first found out about it.

I've a question though about the Maragogype pressed pot of coffee, which serves two. Can I order it and pay using the beverage part of our table service credits or will I have to pay OOP for it?

Usually, anything that says "for two" requires two people to order and use their credits. So as long as someone else wants it or is willing to forego their drink, you should be able to order it. And you never know, they may let just you order it. It never hurts to ask.

I know you're looking at possible free dining, but as PP mentioned, this is a very poor value on the DDP, even if it's "free." Let's say you can order the pressed pot for one person and they also order the Big Kahuna...that's only $23 (plus tax). That TS credit is "worth" almost $40. You forfeit the dessert portion of a TS credit at breakfast.

I haven't give much thought about how much a credit is worth really. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll better go back to the drawing board and figure out prices and where should I spend my credits. I have a couple of 2 credits meals that I'd pay OOP, as it's a steakhouse and I don't eat meat (family does it thougt, so I thought about paying for my own meal OOP) so I do have left over credits, but I'll see what I can do about that.

Don't get too hung up about it - a "poor" use of a credit is still miles better than leaving the credit unused or adding extra meals that you don't really want just to use up the credits. The more important thing is to balance out the less optimal uses of credits with more optimal usage elsewhere. (Granted, this is hard to do on basic DDP - you have to work hard to break even if you're paying for the dining plan to start with... adding suboptimal meals makes that harder.)

You can use credits as long as you're using at least 2. DH and I ordered it and shared it last time we were there.
