I'm going over final plans for our trip, which is a short one, only 4 park days. I have dinner reservations at both Ohana and Kona, but I'm wondering if they're too similar for such a short stay. Ohana is our favorite, so we will definately go there, so should I keep Kona or swap it for something else?

I would keep Kona. We actually loved it more than O'hana. Enjoy!

I think they are very different. I also prefer Kona over 'Ohana.

We found them to be very different, too. If they sound good to you, I say keep them both. Are you staying at the Poly?

Very different. We like both a lot and plan on returning to both on our next trip. At 'Ohana it is a set menu where everyone is served the same thing. At Kona it is a very different menu but it definitely has an Asian theme to it. Teriyaki steak, Pan-Asian Noodles, Miso Glazed Mahi Mahi are some of the entrees on the menu there. One of my favorite WDW desserts is the Coconut Cream Kiki Tart there. My mouth is watering as I think about it! :rotfl: I also love the bread pudding at 'Ohana and normally I HATE it! That's the only place I'll eat it!

If you are thinking about switching one of them have you ever eaten at or given thought to the Wave at the CR? We love this restaurant. It's become one of our favorites. If you're staying at Poly it's a quick monorail ride over there.

Thanks for all your responses! We are not staying at the Poly, but we will be spending most of our time at the Magic Kingdom. I've never looked into The Wave, I will look it up now.

I assume you will be going to Kona for dinner....yum. I like the macadamia nut crusted fish. DS loves the raspberry smoothies there. I've eaten dinner there several times and have never been disappointed.

BTW, Do you know how good Kona is for breakfast? Tonga toast! Even though they have changed the recipe a bit, it's still delicious. French toast that is double thick and stuffed with banana. Search the DIS if you want a better description, I'm sure there has been lots written about Kona breakfast.

Have a great trip!:)

I'm doing both on my next trip. They're different enough. Keep them both and have a great trip!

They aren't alike at all - 2 very different experiences.
We like both.
If you are spending most of your time at the MK then keep what appeals to you

We feel that Kona is different from Ohana and actually prefer it. If you're thinking of resort restaurants consider the Grand Floridian Cafe. We prefer it to The Wave. A visit to the Grand Flo is always fun.

Food at Kona is a lot better than Ohana.

I find them too similar to do both in one trip, but some of that is based on the food items I like and tend to order, not what's available to eat.

Of the two, I would choose Kona.

I think they're different enough, plus I enjoy both. A trip with both places is a good trip to me!!

We find the food and experiences at Kona and 'Ohana to be quite different from one another.

If you happen to go to Kona at lunchtime be sure to try the macaroni salad...it is SO delish. And you can only get it at lunch!!!

Being from Hawaii, I wasn't even considering either of these restaurants during our visit to WDW next year. However, after hearing so many positive reviews for both, I'm thinking we should try to fit at least one of them in. Looking at the experiences and menus, I think we may go with Kona Cafe, but it hasn't been officially decided yet.
