I am looking for a new camera and keep coming back to this one. It is 7.1 mp, 10Xoptical zoom, has the night picture feature(will have to read more about this part), flash. Does anyone have this-likes, dislikes? I am ready to buy!!!

I am not familiar with that particular model, but with a long zoom like that, it is good to have optical image stabilization. This either shifts the lens or sensor to compensate for accidental movement. It is easy to make an image at 10x come out blurry because of this unintentional camera movement. Check to see if that model has this feature. It is a feature that is well worth the money if it means you have to spend a little more. The Canon S2 IS and S3 IS are very well respected cameras in the super zoom range. I believe that there is a Sony or two that are also well respected. Panasonic also has some, but I have heard that there is higher image noise on them(may or may not be an issue for you). Check out some camera review sites such as Steve's Digicams, DCResource, and DPReview if you haven't already done so.

thank you for the advice.....I went to look at it again today and while trying to take the picture, I notice it was a little shaky-I thought it was just me, but maybe it's not-I will check into that. I have checked out some website, but really wanted user review information and have not found much:( That is why I came here:)

I checked, and it does not have IS. Check the specs on this site. http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/cameraDetail.php?cam=941

That usually means that it is difficult to use the max of the zoom unless it is in bright daylight. I personally would not buy it for that reason alone.

You didn't say what reviews you read. Some of the non-camera specific review sites do not do the best reviews on cameras.

I have the Kodak Z7590 which has the 10x zoom just is a 5.0mp and I love it. I've had it a little bit over a year and it takes awesome pictures. I've never had a problem with the zoom or quality.

Thanks for the advice. I have just hunted and picked at review sites on the web. I really want a good camera, but not an SLR with all the attachments. I do not want to have to read a manual for hours just to take a good picture. I actually already have an SLR along with a 2mp digital. Even though I spent much more for the SLR(canon rebel 2000), I use my digital much more often. I enjoy seeing the picture I am going to take before I move along. Any advice is welcome. I do have a budget-not wanting to go too high, but am open for ideas! I perfer the best picture I can get without adding an external lens.

Given your response, I suggest the Canon S3 IS. I am not saying that Kodak is bad, but I doubt that you will find a single reviewer that places their models above the Canon. As for ease of use, every consumer level camera has an auto mode. Kodak markets their ease of use with the docking system and so on, but that does the exact same thing as a standard USB cable that comes with every camera. The dock can also sometimes recharge the batteries, but I do not find it that inconvenient to take batteries out and place them in a charger. Also, I can not say enough on how useful the IS is. It also works automatically, but can be turned off for use on a tripod where you would not want it.

thank you Kevin, I will look into that one. I honestly had no clue that it would be this difficult to buy a new camera!
