So far I have spent a very lucrative month with QR, SR and TT. :thumbsup2 My experiences have been good, and to this point, I've not gotten burned on any of the deals I've signed up for (knock on wood).

My "earnings" so far have been:

Quick Rewards - $525.94 (About $370 is from the 10% back on DisneyShopping in Feb.); Treasure Trooper - $51.75 (All from sign ups that cost me nothing); and Sunshine Rewards - $49.54 (will be $63.14 when my 123inkjets purchase from 2/27 gets credited).

All in all, it's not been a bad month. I've only been OOP approximately $25 in return shipping and other misc. shipping charges. However, this past month of rewarding has been the most nerve-wracking time I've spent online in a while. Don't get me wrong, it's not because of the reward sites themselves - Dmitry and Tricia are great! It's the offers I have to cancel that are at the root of my stress. I think I'm going to have to give up the BIG offers for a bit. I'll probably just do paid emails and the daily stuff for a while. I might even try for some more surveys, but I'm not even sure if I'll do the offers where I simply put in my mailing address at all. The reason . . .

I have always been very protective of my personal information. I never gave out my mailing address to anyone unless I had made the initial contact, and I knew exactly where my information was being used. Since I've been rewarding, I have received more unsolicited mail than ever! The latest, and most scary, offer came just today. It was a REAL check made to me (correct name, address, city, state and zip) for $2,999.50!! I've already checked into this scam, and it is definitely a real STOLEN check. I don't know of any other way these folks would have been able to get my information other than by way of these many offers that I have so willingly tossed my name and address to over the past month. Thank goodness I had the free telephone number from privatephone (through netzero)! At least I've not had to deal with telemarketers too!

Anyway - I think it's definitely time for this Disney dreamer to quit - while I'm still ahead, of course! ;)

Oh wow! That is a really good month! I wish I were that good. Anyways. There are many different ways people can get your name and address. It could be from a sign up or it could be someone pulling your info out the telephone book or from an internet search. I might just lay low on the freebie signups for a month and try again. I would turn the scammed check into the police so that they might be able to find the writers.

. . . I would turn the scammed check into the police so that they might be able to find the writers.

Oh a definite YES! I have already done this.

I live in a very small town, and I know my local bankers VERY well. (I used to work there once upon a time.) Anyway, I took the check to them first thing, and they called the bank on which the check was drawn to verify funds. The check was real, drawn on a real account, but the name of the business and the signature were fraudulent. They were very appreciative of the call, but it wasn't the first call they had received like this. My bank contacted the local authorities, who took it over from that point.

I KNEW the minute I opened the letter that it was a scam, but I also knew there could be many unsuspecting people out there who could be easily taken in by such a con. Hopefully, the guilty party(ies) will soon be caught.:thumbsup2
