Dude, the day we arrived in London, BIL took us all over tarnation (He lives in Battersea, took us to the Tower, London Eye, and around Downtown). then we stayed up eating lots of cheese and got drunk on some AWESOME wine. The next morning, we got up at 4am to catch the EuroStar to Paris, then walked all over Paris. We saw the Louvre, Notre Dame, and Arche de Triumphe in the same day!! The next day, he took us on a 6 hour Bike Tour of Versailles!! We didn't slow down until we got home (4 days later). I was a waste for 2 weeks.

It took BOTH of us a second to realize she was asking for a bath.

I did, I did, DH and I went a couple of years ago and as he's scared of heights I went up to the top of the Eiffel tower by myself

They brought out a cake. Sang Happy birthday, and apparently charged my father for 3 adults and 3 kids. To say he fumed would be an understatement. I got screamed at, told he had to pay for my cake, and extraa for my meal, and that THAT was my birthday present that year. he then only scowled at me for the next 36 hours.

WHY do I read those DDP threads?? WHY???? We LIKE how we travel. Spending a little bit more money makes up for the convenience of having the freedome to order whatever we want. Yes, we're probably lucky that we have enough money to do this, but why do I read the DDP boards?

Do people really vacation by trying to figure out which fods would be "the most worth it" versus "what I actually want to eat"? Do they really tell their kids/Spouses/whoever NOT to get certain snacks because "they're not worth it"?? Doesn't this tarnish the experience? Or does it enhance it?

I know my father was all about "beating the system". I HATED it. I will pay the extra $.13 to NOT go to another store for that yogurt, thank you. I will not gorge myself on the crab legs at the buffet if what I really want is the salad and some chicken.

Yes, I'm weird, but hey, it's MY PTR. I get to say whatever I want, as long as it's Disney related.

Oh, and Buzz, before you bring it up again, we don't go to Disney enough to get APs and DDE. Sorry.

My rubberbands and braces have cut into my cheeks so badly, I have four abcesses....FOUR. OUCH! They're bad colors too. gray and green and other BAD colors for cuts in your mouth. THis cannot be good.

I just called at 10 pm and got a first thing in the morning emergency appointment to get them checked. Not good.

I avoid them like the plague (plaque? - I think it's one of them).
I agree DDP rocks and makes my vacation a happier place. I don't care about the silly changes to the rules and how much I need to order/spend to get back more than I spent. Arghhh...it is not worth it. If you can't enjoy then go OOP!

Totally agree Angela, I've only ever had the DDP for free but even if we paid for it I would still order what I wanted to eat rather than what was worth the most $, saying that I wouldn't use a SC on a bottle of water when you can get a cup of water for free

Hey all.

I had to have one of the braces removed and replaced with a smaller one. the old one had literall dug itself into the area where my gums meet my cheek. OUch. The cuts and stuff in my cheeks were cleaned out and disinfected, but since things with my teeth are progressing so quickly, and the cuts weren't infected, the dentist wants me to just deal with it for a week, then he can move up to the next teeth. Oh JOY.

I swear, I am going to buy stock in Egg-drop soup. *sigh*

And, I am having people over for steak dinner tomorrow (HHBG makes the nest steak, bar none), and I can't eat it!!

And it's better for me to FLY to Disney!! WITH both kids! 2 extra days of parks and fun, and no car whining.....priceless.

I`m hoping the smaller braces help some. and glad to hear that you were`nt infected. it was starting to sound like you were. Egg Drop soup is yummy. Maybe HHBG can put some of his steak in the blender with
A-1 then you can have some!

Why are you sorry to hear that? It works out for us. We are anti-CS, TS for lunch people anyway. Just this trip we would be using something like 15 or 16 TS meals per adult, and for 5 nights we are putting the kids in child care, which is not covered by anything less than one of the premium plans, so we would pay OOP for their meals anyway.

Also, for lunch, HHG and I will usually order 3 appetizers and split them for our meals, unless there is something we really want.

And I don't eat breakfast....HHBG and the kids will have Yogurt and fruit snacks for breakfast in the room every morning. (we are having it delivered by garden grocer, probably)

MUCH easier for us.

Last year we went platinum plan, and had a lot of issues with it, especially ordering meals and paying. YEah, we ended up ahead, but it was a pain and took away from the magic....even with the fireworks cruise and included child care and room service. They were nice, but it was inconvenient, and I hated trying to keep track of what was and what wasn't covered. Inevitably, what I wanted wasn't covered. No more. We are not the "typical" diner at Disney, so the plans don't work great for us. Cash works well, and we really don't end up spending much more than (Or even as much as, honestly), say, the DxDDP, which we would need to cover all the TS meals.

Like I said, everyone vacations differently. we are very "go with the flow" vacationers. I HATE the UGs touring guides. I hate feeling like I have to "optimize" my experiences to have "fun". One of our favorite parks was MGM/DHS. the kids got to see the characters, HHBG got intot he magic on that one street whose name I forget, and we had a nice time wandering around the little alleys and stuff. True, we went on two rides and saw only 3 shows the WHOLE day, btu the kids were happy, we were relaxed, and we had a good time.

We drive family crazy with how we vacation. But it works for us. The only rope drop we even came CLOSE to making was MK (we got off the bus just as they opened up the park), and that was just so we didn't have to wait forever for Dumbo. My kids are little. We'll go back, possibly even next year. It works for us.

If DDP works for you, AWESOME! I know it works for many. Just don't feel bad for me not using it.

Was anyone else disappointed with V&A? We went there last trip, and it was a whole lot of hype, and very little substance.

Give me Guy Savoy or Daniel Boulud any day of the week over that restaurant.

OT: if you're ever in Vegas, one of the best meals I've ever eaten was at Guy Savoy in Caesars Palace....thinking about it makes me want to go back. MMMMmmmmm.
