This past Friday, I went to my regular stylist for some highlights (I regularly highlight). The last few highlights have been kind of ho-hum and she asked me if I wanted to put some red in. Now, I've done red before and, in my experience, it has always looked more brown and it fades fairly quickly. I wasn't too worried. She asked me if I wanted to be more auburn (which I've had before and it looks brown on me) or if I wanted a true red? She then explained that it wouldn't be "stop sign" red but something like a true redhead would be (I'm thinking copperish and on the more orange side but deeper?).
Anyway, I agree to this. So, I'm having blonde, light brown, and some red put into my naturally brown hair. When it's all done, my stylist is thrilled. The lighting isn't great there but I detect some "burgundy." Oh well, I know it doesn't last.
When I get home, I realize that these streaks (mainly concentrated in the front and top of hair) are burgundy and kind of bordering on purple. I have now washed my hair 4 times and this crap is really not fading. I feel so stupid, especially in my business suit at work.
I know I could go back to her and she might fix it but, seriously, I just don't have any time to do this.
I have washed with a clarifying shampoo. I googled this and saw that Prell worked and Head and Shoulders (but also clarifying shampoo). Well, the clarifying is not working so I'm not sure if the others are any better.
Any tried and true techniques? The other colors in my hair are just fine. I just want this BURGUNDY to fade, just a bit would be nice. Against all odds of red hair dye, it seems to be hanging in there...
