Wondering what everyones opinions are about Knotts??? Looks like a fun place with lots of rides and shopping.

It is extremely fun, especially for thrill seekers!
I'm buying an annual pass and planning to visit knotts 3 days during our trip next week :)

The girls ages 9-13 all love Knotts and insist we make it part of our Disney trips. They love thrill rides so the coasters are a big draw. But they love the old west theming, food (Chicken Diner), gun fights etc.

Love Knott's! We have passes and go at least twice a month. We do days with my daughter (camp snoopy, the log ride, the dragon swing, stagecoach, train ride with the bandits, bumper cars, shows, lots of characters out and about, etc), and date days with just DH and I (tons of thrill rides!!!! great food...you MUST try the fried chicken, shopping, etc.). And like the pp said, the western theming is great!

I love Knotts! I went when I was 17 with a friend of mine. I'm now 40 and will be in Anaheim next month. I can't wait to take my kids there. So much fun. I love coasters, and they have some of the best!

You have to have a funnel cake if you go. It is soooo good :yay: and the fruit topping, delicious!

Love Knotts--not as much as DL, but it's great fun. Very uncrowded during weekdays with a lot of thrill rides. Just make sure you take a Tylenol 20 minutes before going on Ghostrider (an old fashioned wood roller coaster). It's fun and all, but it is NOT like the smooth, metal roller coasters we've gotten used to. I've been on several wooden roller coasters and none of them knock my brain around in my skull like Ghostrider. If I go on it, I take the Tylenol before and plan on not staying around any longer because I will get a headache--and I do NOT generally get headaches from roller coasters. I love them. So just beware of this one :crazy2:

I also love the western themed shopping. It's well worth the trip.

Love KBF especially in the off season. You can ride some rides over and over again without exiting. It's not unusual for us to ride 25+ rides-and that's when they open at 10 and close at 5 or 6 ( and we don't stay til closing)

We got their AP earlier this year for $69. A bargain and available with 3 monthly payments (extra $5 to do the monthly plan).

Ghostrider-very painful as is Boomerang. But Xcelerator is AMAZING!

I did a day at Knotts a couple springs ago as part of the American Coaster Enthusiasts Spring Conference. I agree with everyone about Ghostrider; it's a rough one.

I didn't have the kids along, but I think Jaguar should be EXCELLENT for families--mild, fun, and a nice long ride. Few parks have anything like that

I didn't get to ride Xcelerator, and I notice that it is/will be closed for refurbishment. It's supposed to open sometime during our trip (june 5-21), so I hope we can get on it.

And do any of you Knotts experts know how reliable their Windseeker is? We've not yet timed our Cedar Point or King's Island trips for a day when the darn thing is running, and hope for better luck at Knotts--one kid is dying to get on it. And while I'm asking--does anyone have a "touring plan" for Knotts? Which ride to hit first at opening?

Knotts DOES have a line-cutting mechanism now; check their website for details on Fast Lane. Not cheap, but I've seen worse; may be worth it if you really like coasters and want to get maximum value out of a 1-day visit. I hope that we won't need it; we expect to go on probably Wednesday the 20th.

I think the big ticket rides are accelerator and silver bullet. Accelerator is nearer the back, while Silver Bullet is near the front, and I notice most people go straight to that. It's a ride for more age groups than accelerator. All my kids, who were tall enough, went on and loved Silver Bullet, but some of them would not go on Accelerator because they were scared. Generally I found the Silver Bullet line longer--unless you wanted to sit in the front of accelerator (that's a long line), so I would probably hit SB first then Accelerator. Just get there first if you're there on the weekend.

We've been a few times since we bought our AP and WS has been operated each time.

Last time we went we got there a few minutes before opening. We were allowed through the turnstyles (they do their bag check after you enter). As you enter Ghost Town is to your left, Camp Snoopy to your far rightand there's one more entrance just to the right which is the way to get to SB, X, etc. We decided to go on SB first. We were at the front of the line. (no rope, just a CM standing there) Just before opening they play our National Anthem (nice touch) and you can see the flag over the Wild West Arena. As soon as the park opened we basically ran for SB (they don't tell you not too) We made the first ride on SB. After our ride there were only about 6-8 people in each line (fits 4 per row) so it wasn't too bad yet. This was on a Saturday about a month ago so not during the summer.

After SB we went and rode X. Like PP mentioned, X is located in the far back right corner. The ride does tend to go down more than any other ride at KB so be prepared that when you get there it may be down for awhile.

Jaguar is an excellent 1st adult coaster. It was the 1st one my DD rode that wasn't for kids. She graduated to X last year on her 6th grade trip-now she LOVES it! If the line isn't too long for the front row, and you are a thrill seeker, go for it! You literally feel like you are going to fly off!

One thing about the line for X. Each gate is for 2 rows of seats (2x2). Many people don't notice this when they get in line. So if you are in line for the front row you may get the 2nd row (in the first car) If you want the 1st row you can wait through one more cycle.

Montezoomas Revenge is a great ride as well. You go upside down forwards and then in reverse. When there's no line they will let you ride without exiting. :)

La Revolucion is another great thrill ride. On this one where you sit makes a difference. I haven't figured out the where to sit when you are loading to make it the most thrilling-ask the CM if they can tell you.

Also Supreme Scream is good-Not as good as Maliboomer was, but still a thrill.

The classics are worth doing as well-Log Ride, Calico Mine Train, The Train, and The Stagecoach.

If you want to get wet-ride Big Foot Rapids!

Oh and their bumper cars, Wheeler Dealer Bumper cars are pretty fun-you are actually allowed to bump! Another ride that you don't have to exit if there's no line.

Knotts is great for one, maybe two days. I love the thrill rides but it just doesn't have the same draw as DL for me.

Knotts is good for thrill rides, though not as good as Magic Mountain. Its very kitchey and fun.

My main recommendation would be if you're planning on going to Knotts, put it before the DL part of your trip so you won't be comparing it negatively. The last couple of times my brother said "let's go!" and I went as a spur-of-the moment end of my trip I kept seeing all the small things like the trash/gum on the pavement and thinking "Man Disney is so much cleaner". :rotfl:

Not that its dirty, or that the employees are surly by any stretch of the imagination, its really a nice fun park, its just that Disney is so awesome and the CMs are so friendly it suffers by comparison. Would not have noticed it if I'd gone beforehand.

Knotts is a fun park. It got a bit untidy for a bit, but they are working on it and many of my siblings prefer to go to Knotts than DL. If you like thrill rides, roller coasters, Knotts has quite a few. If you can, try the chicken dinner, that is what started it all! As a teen, I loved when the cowboys would rob the stagecoach and the train! Those robbers were so cute! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the tips; I am taking my older kids to Knotts for a day while we are in So Cal to visit family this summer. I haven't ben there in more than 20 years.

Two questions about Knott's:

1) My kids aren't in to the thrill rides. (Well DS (9) isn't and DS (7) isn't quite 46 inches yet. Would it still be worth a visit at the end of our trip?

2) Do they do anything special at Christmas time? We're looking for something to do on November 30 before we start heading home.

We will have spent six days at Disneyland before that and we have season passes to our local amusement park, so maybe we'll be theme parked out by then.

There's another thread with a link here - they can go on rides in Camp Snoopy, - also train, mine ride, stagecoach, bumper cars ...

The start date of Knott's Merry Farm for this year has not been released - November 30 is "cutting it close".

Go here for information on Christmas at KBF.
