My wife and I are coming down to DL for Halloween and a few days after (30th to 2nd). We thought we'd spend a day at Knotts since I haven't been there for 30 years.

Knotts has their Halloween nights going on and that really appears to have messed with their schedule as they are only open until 5:30 (I believe the Halloween party starts after this time?) and it also goes util 2 days after Halloween as well. Our original plan was to go to Knotts on the 1st but we're wondering what we should do considering it's only open 10am to 5:30pm.

Do Halloween party guests get in early? Is it really possible to see most of Knotts on the 1st that's a Friday?

Anyway, I know DL inside and out but know nothing about Knotts and their website is hard to figure out details and tips from.

Thanks!

Knotts on days when the Haunt is held that night are DEAD! You probably won't wait in a line longer than 15 mins the entire day.

Haunt guest do not get in early. They close the park at 5:30pm, escort all the day guests out of the park. Then re-open the park at 6:30pm for VIP Haunt guests and 7pm for Haunt general admission guests.

You will have no problems seeing all that Knotts has to offer in one day.

My sister was just there on a weekday when they closed early and she said many rides, even the bigger ones, had NO wait. She said the longest they waited was 15 minutes for the Log Ride, because they were only running one side. She said they were there 8 hours and rode 32 rides (I think some of those were repeats). And that was lugging 3 kids ages 6-11.

There have been a few others Knotts tip threads if you search or scroll down in this forum.

Thanks guys! That info is a huge help. We'll go Friday as planned!

Now I just need to find good attraction descriptions to decide what to hit and in what order maybe. My wife also isn't a huge thrill fan (Doesn't do ToT, Screamin', Dragon Challenge, RipRide and Hulk but she'll do everything else including Rock 'n' Rollercoaster, Mummy and Forbidden Journey because it's in the dark) and I'll need to figure out which rides she'll not kill me for taking her on. ;)

All of the bigger coasters at Knotts are outdoors -- good in that she will be able to see what they are, bad that she'll be able to see what they are!! :rotfl2:

I think Xcelerator and Silver Bullet are probably the most extreme coasters. I've heard Ghost Rider is rough (closed the day we were there). I think the Knotts website is fairly detailed -- better than official Disneyland in explaining the rides. But I don't agree with their "rating system" -- their water rides are rated far too high for their actual thrill level. :confused3

Splash Mountain is the only log/flume ride that can compare to Knott's Log Ride. But Splash came after, so even though Disney has never said so, I'm sure they got some inspiraton from Timber Mountain.

Knott's Berry Farm can easily be done in a day (even a short one). But Halloween Haunt is a classic. It's the theme park Halloween event that paved the way for everything else, (including the Disney parties).
