Knoebels discount tickets or coupons...and other questions

Oh We really like Knoebel's! We went last mother's day and had a blast.And I got a free corsage! (we have gone before for overnights but this time did it for a day trip) On the overnights we stayed further west as the hotel choices were better near the college.

The food in the park is constantly voted best park food in the nation. We even enjoy the "fast food" options here. There is an area that has about 5 or 6 different styles of food- like Chinese, mexican,deli, pizza, polish so everyone is happy. We like the The Alamo too!

Oh and the funnel cake~ it must be the years and years of oil that they use but dang that is one yummy funnel cake.

My little guy LOVES that he can DRIVE here. They have those mini go carts and he is in heaven. (He was 2 last year when we went) The coasters are great fun. And we LOVE the rings on the carousel.

I was really surprised that we liked it so much because at first site it can seem kind of dumpy. But the rides are really really fun and the food is great and it is reasonably priced. How can you beat that?

Hi - I have a friend who has been to Knoebels a lot and has been trying to get me to go. This is the year! I am considering camping....any suggestions for a 'preferred' site location or is it just get anything available (per a pp - it might be tough getting anything)? One of those platforms to be up off the ground sound great to me - but I would take what I can get. Just wondering if I do get in if there is an area maybe in a better location to the restrooms (with a 4 and 5 year old - don't want to be too far). TIA!

Also - I'm a novice on the camping thing....but I don't think all of them allow fires at your own tent - Can we do our own campfire?

I need to call to see about a reservation.

If you want to go camping, I'd suggest getting anything available. The staff is very helpful on telling you what is open and what the site is like. When we got in, there were only 2 sites available. One right across from the bathroom and one in a corner, smaller site. She suggested ours and I'm glad. DD was potty training at the time so it worked out great. We have great shade, big site compared to some and it's a pull through, which works great for our travel trailer.

If you get a site you don't like, you can always call back and check for a cancellation. But again, they are a great at helping you decide on what's available. Check out the campground map. We have a site on Kentucky which I like since it's within walking distance to the park but has shade and bath house right by. I don't like be out in "Jabip" (as we call it) - far out section. They do have a "drunk bus" (again, our termonalogy) to shuttle you down to the camping store should you be at a far site.

Oh, and they do allow campfires. To me it's not camping if I can't be a phyro...

We're doing Knoebels for the 4th of July and staying in Danville. We were going to do HersheyPark but my company is having an event there the week afterwards. We did Dorney Park last year and ugh...funnel cake is NOT supposed to be pre-made!

Glad to hear the good reviews about the park food. We are true park 'foodies'.

How far is the Yuengling Brewery tour from Knoebels?

FYI Make sure you eat before you do the tour I know they are generous with their samples last I heard it was 2 48oz glasses of beer

I live probably about 30 or maybe 40 mins from Knoebles. We went there free the other year when they had military day after the troops here got home from Iraq. The food is GREAT in the park. Definitely eat at that park! I was going to go to Hershey the other year but decided to go to Knoebles because my mom was to Hershey and said they waited forever to get on the rides, it was so hot and lots of hills. Knoebles is shaded quite a bit I think. Knoebles has free parking. Everything at Hershey is expensive along with parking.

I think we have decided to go opening weekend(April 26 & 27). I can't pass up bogo free admission!! We may plan another trip for June. I would love to go camping for a couple days. I will have to call later and see about availabilty.

Oooooh I'll see you there! Its a great time to go! most people dont know its open yet!! So its NEVER busy! Just make sure your ready to stand in line for the handstamp for those people who do know its open its a LONNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG line!!

and yes pepperderr its free parking, free admission, free free free! (I like free!) There are times we'll go for an evening with just 20$ its great!!!

I'll get ya those directions when DH gets home... just dont get scared of the ringtown mountian Lots of turns no guard rails, I use to have races down there to see how fast I could go

We like to stay at the Hampton Inn in Danville when we go to Knoebels. There is a McDonalds right across the small access road.

We highly recommend the crystal pool at the park - but get there early, it is very popular.

Even on a real hot day, it feels cooler at Knoebels because many of the paths are gravel and lots of trees. When we were there last year, they were building another roller coaster.

We like the family, traditional amusement park atmosphere, laid back style, and very minimal lines.

The food is indeed great and priced reasonably.

We took 61 I believe to get to Pottsville from Elysburg, it was a very hilly, windy, guardrail all the way, fun drive.

The Yeungling Tour was about an hour, very interesting. You have to climb stairs and walk a lot, also wear closed toed shoes. We all got our choice of beer, I think 1 16 oz cup and the kids got rootbeer. Since we had 5 adults, we all got something different.

Here's the info on the tour. I think the one during the week would be better because the factory would be operational, but the one we took was still good.

I toured the Yeungling brewery and was very impressed by the knowledge of the guide. We toured the entire brew house, bottling center, and the old aging caves from early 1800's. You must wear closed shoes, or you will be ask to put on the ones they have. There is a lot of walking, it's a big brewery, but not so much as to be difficult. Some of the stairs are steep.

The group I toured with was the largest ever to go through at a time. We had over 90+ people. We all had a great time.

Overall, I would go again, as it's very interesting.

Has anybody stayed at the JellyStone Yogi Bear Campgrounds nearby? We are thinking of going camping and i no Yogi Bear is good for kids, so i'm thinking we could hit Knoebels while we are there!

Thinking of going the last weekend in June.

I agree that the food at Knoebels is great (OK, I'm a little biased because I used to work there-but I ate a LOT of food in 3 summers and I'm very picky).

Just keep in mind that the park doesn't open up until 11 AM most days, especially during the summer season, so you might want to eat a light breakfast. I usually have a piece of fruit so I don't get too filled up.

Recommendations for food:
Cesari's pizza
fresh cut french fries at the stand by the Alamo
hand dipped hard ice cream at The Mill (Hershey's Ice Cream)
funnel cakes
waffles w/ice cream at the Round Stand (the have deep fried Mrs. T's pierogies too)
popcorn and carmel corn (both in bags to take home) at the carmel corn stand
fresh roasted peanuts and homemade fudge at Stony Gables

Alright, so none of it's health food, but it's all delicious.
