I am looking at some beautiful dining sets to use everyday, but I'm a little worried about the durability of the finish on the top of the table. Example glass water rings, etc. Everyday use marks.
My present table that I have had for 25 years still looks new, dated, but still looks new, its 100% oak with a formica top and it with standed years of food and children.
I'm updating my kitchen and want to update my dining set, but I need to know what kind of finish I should be looking for before making such a large purchase.
This set would still be getting just as much traffic. The children are adults now who come with adult friends, but ya wouldn't know it.
So what kind of finish should I be looking for??????

It's a dining room set, because we need big, and it cost less thatn $1000. Wood tops just don't work here.
